I've been running it for a little while now, and I actually like it. Been using it nearly full time. I'm going to run some gaming benchmarks later to see what the impact is, but I don't think it will be that big. Anyways, just want general opinions from anyone else that may have it.

I'm sticking with XP for now. My computer's way too terrible to ever run Vista.

I'd install it but I'll wait until it's easier to "install a final retail completely legal copy" on my system?

Why upgrade when XP is still supported and has everything you need?

Because you're bored of the XP Blue Screen Of Death? :p
Out of curiosity, is the Vista BSOD nice?

I've never had one on XP, to tell you the truth. I don't think I'll bother, seeing as it'll cost 2 billion pounds and all it'll do is look a bit fancy-pants. And you're not telling me SOMEBODY won't make a means by which Halo2PC will run on XP. Not that I'll be buying it. Multiplayer on it's not half as good as Halo1. It's just a race to the sword.

I'll go for my free MSDN copy or the one because I've been beta testing since beta one and when MS stop supporting XP in 2008 you will all moan!

The situation with people moaning about Vista is why the Beta 2 and RC's should never be released to the public.

I'm running Vista Beta 2 because every time I download the RC1 or RC2 they end up corrupted for some reason and I can't install them. :(

I don't even have the option of XP any more, because my computer is evil and won't let me enable my video drivers and still start.

Get them on DVD, its easier and a nice memory of the beta and RC days.

I'll wait a while, just until I find out all the 'ins and outs'. You never know what MS decided to screw up this time...

Where can I get the skin? Is it with a windows vista transformation pack?

Im not sure if I want to get the beta or a transformation pack because I don't have an XP CD (my computer just came with XP) and I'm afraid if I install vista and something goes wrong I wont be able to go back to xp.

Your computer should be able to restore to its factory settings, which would include XP. Then you can spend the next month downloading updates to get it back to the version you have now! Unless you have SP1, as support has expired already, and good luck trying to convince M$ to let you download SP2...
I'm not using Vista until I know how much RAM I need, and if I'll need to buying a new gfx card for DX10. May as well wait for creases to be ironed out and upgrade all at once.

vista will run on 256 apparently, in the same way that XP will run on 128

I was just over at a freinds (he runs a cumputer store) and he let me have a play arround with vista, and I'll put it this way, vista is not just a fancy looking XP, any skins you can think of don't dig shit compared to it, it only looks similar, unless of course you have a run of the mill computer. then while you can still run vista it won't have any of the nifty extras like the 3D window scrolling (like alt+tab but better)

My laptop has 256 MB RAM and Win2000 and its not being that fast and needs to swap if you use more than the RAM that's left, which is faster than you'd like. I don't recommend having Vista on 256 MB or XP on 128.

Yes, but it will run about as well as a paraplegic.
