They have been enough times for WWIII to happen (way before ICBM's were created) but fortunatly our leaders had bigger brains then to avoid such nuclear armageddon.
Generally in my opinion if all out war was to happen the main problem is logistics and supplies and the underesitmated consumption of fuel and ammunition.
During the WWII the Germans partly lost due to stretched logisitics and lack of raw materials, the Allies won due to constant supplies and materials.
Communism in europe was also halted off due to the Marshall Aid programme. Without it social unrest and the promise of communism security would have engulfed Europe and created a iron curtain.

It was celebration of there 80 year fight against the imperialists and most the lights were torches looking a bit like swords.
Isolation just helps that control have more control over its people.
If the people had simple information like 1/3 of the population starves whilst there great leader uses capitalist goods, the entire country would free itself.
