You've probbably got this thought out already, but how are you going to do beams? I presume it'll need some coding, because just editing the sprites would make the beam move away from where its being fired, unlike most guns in Seed where the beams don't leave the guns until the shot is finished, in which case it simply dissapears/evaporates/dissolves/whatever. How do you plan on doing this?

I believe someone made an animation for the axial superlaser on the sorvereign super star destroyer and DSII in the conflicts in space mod. The beam moved a bit faster than a turbolaser shot and cut out when it it the target.

Anyway, i suppose that means that its possible to do such an animation. Either you could ask the modder who made that, or make your own. (i have a feeling you already did)

Beams are tricky, mostly because most of the beam weapons you see in EAW are hard coded. I don't supose you have a picture of this beam weapon the other mod has?

I think its a modified death star superlaser sfx, but i'll try to get a screenie. It's the 'Conflicts in Space mod' btw.

Edit: Yeah, they modded it so that the laser would be a bit thinner and slower, and programmed their DS2 to automatically fire at capital ships (really, really cool).
The one from the sorvereign was the same, slower, made thinner and with a different colour, but this one based on a hard point. I suppose the drawback would be every shot is perfectly accurate unless the enemy manuvers, unlike turbos. On the other hand, in the shows they always manuver to avoid fire.

The only real beams like that in seed are the red energy cannons like the "scyla" and the dragoons beams (which would be cool if the hit ever time)

yea, everything else is bigger. I think with a skilled spriter cool beams like the positron cannon are possible, but becauase of code and being projectiles, they'd be flung across the map and detatch from their source, which is completely innacurate in the Seed universe. Also, because of the death stars miniturised size, the green lasers would actually fit Freedom's gun fairly well, not as well as a fresh sprite but it'd still be worth seeing if its possible, from there you'd hopefuly be able to work out how to make beams with sprites from scratch.

I've watched Stargazer stage 3 (untranslated). The girty-lue class ship was firing its gottefrieds pulse style. Not long beams. Although since the other two series had beams, it would be more accurate to do them that way.

Im not sure, but i think you could increase the spd of the DS beam, make it thinner, and it'll look gs laser cannon style. Also, beams for ms are actually long projectiles.

Actually most of the beams are just long projectilles In seed, but like you said they seem to change almost episode to episode on how they are drawn/animated.

Lol, all great ideas. I think Freedom should have the Eclipse's cannon. Its freakin powerful. Just Imagine it a minute. Freedom pullin its gun out, getting in a pose, then firing the Eclipse's gun. Of course not as large, but the power of the Eclipse and the Freedoms guns are almost close enough to compare.Posted Image

You'll have to mod it abit to get the eclipse in galactic conquest or skirmish tho. Damned balancing...always nerfing the imps...otherwise the eclipse is only availible in the story. In fact, its even a different model in the story. It also has no hardpoints or weapons other than the superlaser.

Those last few posts aren't completely encourageing my purchase of this game...

I'm holding off atm because I'm pritty sure everything you mentioned can be done in EAW without needing FC.(forces of coruption being an expansion is basically just a really good mod)
