yesterday i suddenly had this amazing idea:

- every player starts with 6+- build plots around his fortress. here he can build structures like in bfme 1 (not the farms though)
- doesn't count for fortresses built later in the game
- no initial builders
- player can also build outside of those plots, but this is 1.5 times as expensive

what do you think?

Very nice idea... Something that would probably make me play bfme2 more again.

sounds really good but would be even better if you could make the walls thick so you can put soldiers on them like in bfme 1

That looks very good 2play, but maybe you can put a large bib underneath the plots and the fortress. Looks more organized, I think.

arg, this is off topic, but I'll bring in some on after
I HATE watching BFME2 screens :D they always makes me wanna play it soo much! :D

well, I agree with Matti, that they could have a bib, but a different than the BFME one....dunno how it will look though, sice the maps are different, i.e snow, "desert", volcanic and grass, simple :D so, unless you make it as the buildings itself, it might prove hard, or make something that fits, and add alphas on the edges.... dunno

EDIT: the buidligs itself, I mean when they get snow on snowmaps :D

This might be a little late, but you could also have a ring of walkable walls with a gate (like BFME 1) around the fortress and build plots. Then, builders can make un-walkable walls and more expensive build plots. That fixes the reason that EA didnt put the regularly buildable walls as walkable, because they would be too bulky and large. This way the walls you build from builders would be the same as normal.

i thought about that, but it would be a lot of work and strange. we'd have to make 4 new walls, gates and towers (men have them, but they don't match their small walls), and the small walls would need to be connectable to them (which might become ugly)

as an alternative for walkable walls we're going to introduce wall outposts, which are cheap garrisonable pieces of wall

Original Idea? LIES! :p joking. I had the Idea for this some time ago, but when my hours of research into the build plot problem came up empty, I game up. Now 2Play has cracked it! I have no way to prove that I did come up with this idea that long ago, but I do have SSs of it: Posted Image
My Idea basically was build that "Isengard Settlement", on whose build plots buildings came remarkably cheaper. Oh well, good idea anyway :p
