It is quite a fine web browser (I've been using it since RC 2).

Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

Yes it appears very solid, I need a tool that transfers my Firefox settings over.

Time to start designing sites with IE7 in mind then. And leave IE6 to rot.

ARGUMENT FROM CREATION, a.k.a. ARGUMENT FROM PERSONAL INCREDULITY (I)
(1) If evolution is false, then creationism is true, and therefore God exists.
(2) Evolution can't be true, since I lack the mental capacity to understand it; moreover, to accept its truth would cause me to be uncomfortable.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

I use FF and am not going to change that, but out of curiosity, what new features / fixes etc are there?

Is it compliant with anything beyond microsofts websites yet? Like, uh... CSS1 would be good? Or 2.1 if they wanna catch up with reality. Thats right, theres more to the web than microsofts hub.

And leave IE6 to rot.

Actually people still use IE5 (source), and with the radically different layout many IE fools will probably be reluctant to make the switch.

What can I say but: it's not really my problem? It's widely known behaviour that things get designed for the most recent tools available. As a matter of yesterday IE7 is more recent than IE6, therefore all the fools should be ready for the fact that less and less websites will now work correctly in their outdated browser.

Just design all the web around Internet Explorer seeing as its what 80% of the world uses. Its easier than pissing around with designing it for firefox or opera.

Yeah, I'm the one who uses keyboard shortcuts :p
@ Blodo; I guess IE users should be used to inferior service anyway ;)

It came with ClearType (or whatever it's called) by default, which took a while to disable, and it looks bad with my windowblinds theme (part of the wallpaper shows up in a few cracks). I'll continue using FF, and if I need to, I'll use the IE Tab extension to test out sites in IE.

It's directly to the right of the adress bar.

what skin you using for windowblinds? I'm using azenis 2 and I'm having no trouble, nore have I for any other skin (thats including the dodgy alienware suites) also, what version of windowblinds are you using?

@ jeeves, you moron, of course it works, do you think I ment a different IE7 when you asked what I was opening the TWN site with :thumbsupsmiley:

@ gaia, download and see but for thsoe too lazy, it gets rid of the menu bar (file, view, tools, etc) and gives you a tab bar, favourites and add favourites are buttons next to each other on the tab bar, it also has an address bar that includes a search box and refresh and stop buttons, on the other side of the tabs bar is another toolbar with a number of menue's that basically do everything else that the main menu used to.

as a general rule it's faster and more reliable, it comes with a phishing filter which so far hasn't done me much good or bad, and a number of other miscilanious stuff

I've been using it for ages and I can't fult it in comparasin to any other browser I've used.

Destroyer: You won't find what you don't look for. Cleartype can be disabled on the first screen when you start IE7.

Ali: I can't really design for IE alone, but when I do it for Firefox and Opera the newest versions of them don't really give any problems - so I can just say that it works in the newest versions of the most popular browsers. It's always the advantage when an employer wants a site to work in multiple browsers :thumbsupsmiley:
