OLD SIG
When history witnesses a great change Razgriz reveals itself,
first as a dark demon. As a demon it uses it power to rain death upon the land,
and then it dies. However after a period of slumber Razgriz returns
As the demon sleeps, man turns on man.
Its own blood, and madness soon cover the earth.
From the depths of despair awaken the Razgriz.
Its raven wings ablaze in majestic light.
Amidst the eternal waves of time
From a ripple of change shall the storm rise
Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon
Behold the Razgriz, its wings of black sheath
The demon soars through the dark skies
Fear and Death trail its shadow beneath
Until Men united wield a hallowed sabre
In Final Reckoning, the beast is slain.

As far as i know even if the democrats got alot of votes, the republicans would still have a majority in the senate, that might be incorrect however. I think the 2008 presidential election will be more interesting.

For want of a nail, the horseshoe was lost.
For want of a horseshoe, the horse was lost.
For want of a horse, the messenger was lost.
For want of a messenger, the message was not delivered.
For need of the message, the war was lost.
~Japanese saying, anonymous
I personally like that saying. Mainly, it shows that even with only the change of the houses of Congress, it could change the way our country handles everything, from foreign policy to the war in Iraq (plus, lots of other current issues). Whether this change is for the better or worse, remains to be seen.OLD SIG

In a country with the greatest scientific minds, the most powerful industry in the world, and the most academic institutions, elections come down to a contest over some deeply held views which are paramount to a religion. More people register to vote for American Idol than for the national elections, and people do not care who they elect. Ignorance, unfortunately, still reigns supreme as people drink in the media agendas and run out and vote for anyone who opposes the other guy, who apparently, according to Fox News, is all for aborting live babies in the nursery with a pistol.
Yes, American politics is real fun. Real, real fun. So much fun I want to shoot myself in absolute amazement at the willful ignorance of a large proportion of people in the United States.

Stop licking the mercury off the floors.
The only way a change would ever be effected is if the Democrats controlled, by a large majority, both houses, the Supreme Court, and the Presidency, as well as most states. That's why things will never change, they can't. It's not because Ted Kennedy's secret agenda is that he wants to dominate the world.

Meh, I agree that there's no "secret" agenda, but there is an agenda. The democrats aren't really that much different from Republicans, most of the restrictions on bussiness they create only hurt small bussiness and amazingly leave massive loopholes for the people that fund their party. The agenda is a simple one, and that's to make a profit.

Take energy for one: they protested about nuclear power plants, now we haven't built a new one in decades, they bitch about coal and pollution. They protest and stop us from finding new sources of oil on our own soil in Alaska.
They are now protesting a new natural gas terminal 14 miles off the coast of California. Natural gas being one of the cleanest methods.
So what are we supposed to power our economy with? Potato juice or just foreign oil? Windmills in Utah and solar panels in Texas isn't gonna get my car to work or heat my home in DC.

We build interstate highways that run through the Rocky Mountains right? We build nuclear bombs? We sent a man to the moon, we sent remote vehicles to Mars?
I'm sure we can figure out how to get some oil from the ground without destroying everything around it. It's not like the oil companies don't have enough money to "make it profitable and eco-friendly"

ARGUMENT FROM CREATION, a.k.a. ARGUMENT FROM PERSONAL INCREDULITY (I)
(1) If evolution is false, then creationism is true, and therefore God exists.
(2) Evolution can't be true, since I lack the mental capacity to understand it; moreover, to accept its truth would cause me to be uncomfortable.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

It's the actual discovery process which is destructive. And there's no real way to make drilling platforms look like ice sculptures. So why not figure out a way to do it without destroying the environment. We build causeways in the Alaskan pipeline for migrating animals to follow thier natural paths, surelly we can solve this.
