hmm I had seen that too, the mention of the "trilogy game", Cel I would'nt get my hopes up its most likely was refering to ethier the "third age" or perhaps.... the movies box set but thats just speculation. I believe its just EA as usual milking the situation and us tolkien fans....

It would be in character of EA to announce a game twice....

Actually, this is just an addition to the earnings announcement they made. Part of it was to sum up all the (already announced) future milkcows to give a glance at the future earnings.

Gamespot made the game announcement the backbone of their news, as the earning announcement isn't interesting for gamers, unless it was about EA nearly getting backrupt or something.

I've always wanted (by Always, I mean since Oblivion came out) Oblivion-Like LOTR, where you can be the "good" forces, or wait... I would like to an uruk too... well anyways, where you can do everything you can in Oblivion too, only it's LOTR. There is a mod for Oblivion that's planning on this, but I doubt They'll ever finish...
EDIT: Of course, there wouldn't be the same map and quests as Oblivion and you could join guilds like the Dwarven Figtherguild, or the Elven Assasin's guild (dunno, just something that doesn't fit ) and the possibility of helping Frodo on his quest, I don't think I would liked a main quest based on helping them... dunno

I have a sneaking suspicion that the success of Oblivion nudged EA into making the White Council...
