Battle For Middle Earth 2: Return of The Witch King, the expansion to BFME 2, is released!

(...), this Real-time Strategy (RTS) game enhances every existing feature and offers players the chance to command the rise of evil in Middle-earth while experiencing the epic battles that took place before those depicted in the films from New Line Cinema.

That is part of the release announcement from the EA site and sums up what this expansion has to offer.

Before you buy the game, or while you wait for it to arrive, we suggest that you take a look at the video's they've released yesterday, on the last Middle Earth Monday, and today.

The video from yesterday shows us how EA has improved the Create A Hero with a much larger range of clothing options for all classes. And how they have decided to listen to the community and make the power selection determine the purchase cost of the Create A Hero, opening up many new strategies.

For those who want to see more after the video, there are also 5 new screenshots, featuring the Create A Hero.

The video that was released today is the launch video. This video comes even in HD quality and is really something you should see for yourself.

A small update:
Joker, the leader from Middle Earth Vault, has written a long indepth review of the new expansion. You can read about it here.

Yipee! 2 Days till it hits the shelves. I, for one, plan on buying it the day it hits the shelves. The Menus are blue, and thats reason enough for me to buy it :)

I won't be getting it until Christmas so I'll just have to wait a little bit longer. :(

Anyone else having problems viewing the videos? I get the music but I don't get anything else. Don't know why this is.

I'll try to get a SS of those blue menus for ya Cel

@Rob: Missing codec of sorts? That type of thing happens to me all the time.

EDIT: Nope, can't take pictures within videos. Must be some kind of safegaurd against Piracy (although I don't see what a screenshot has to do with piracy...)

it's not. it's because video is rendered by the graphics card, while normal windows are rendered by the cpu

Lol a blue menu system is hardly a reason to buy it, I added that to my mod in a few minutes :)

So how many people here are actually buying it? And will it be given its own modding section if enough modders are getting it?

Playing games? Ah, you'll never be a good modder if you get involved in actually playing them!

Regardless of how many people get it, it won't have its own section. So far it looks as though there are few enough changes to the game that it can easily be slid into the BfME II section. This may change down the line once we learn more about the code, but it's certainly good enough for now.

And no, I'm not getting it.

For those interested in the Create A Hero:

Create-A-Hero’s entirely new and unique Troll class grants players more creative freedom for their heroes

That's from the release announcement, and it's pretty much a lie. Not technically, but at least deceiving.

The Create A Hero Troll is 'new', meaning it got it's own class now, with three subclasses. While you'd think that they would have made a complete new power set for him, they only added 2 or 3 'new' powers and combined a few powers from other classes to complete the set...

Don't get to excited and it won't be to much of a hit.

The thing that is great, is the buy system, where the powers you select for your Create A Hero make up the price of purchasing the Create A Hero in game.
That part is hardcoded, and can't be ported to the original game, as was to be expected, so if you want this you really have to buy the expansion, there is no way that a mod will just duplicate it for the original game.

How do I know? Someone at gamereplay posted the ini.big...

As you might have been able to tell, I'm buying it for the blue menus. I hope they fixed all the CaH cheats that people have been using lately... The other day I fought a Troll with several Max Level Spear Throws. Totaly pwned my base :(

You are spending £20 on a game for some blue menu buttons?... Sorry that just sounds crazy to me.
I myself will not be spending any money on this game as someone is buying it for me so i wont complain. The only reason i would buy the game is to own the complete bfme series still.

Flamegaurd, I would never spend £20 on a game for several reasons!
1: I pay in $ not £ :p
2: Over here in the USA it only costs $25.00 (£11.35)!

EB Games - $29.99 USD
Amazon - $27.98 USD
Buy.com - $29.85 USD
EA Store - $29.95 USD

So its about £5 cheaper than the uk price i think.
