i've found out that i'm crap at wishing stuff for christmas, and this year i've planned to make a list of stuff that i might want the folks at home to buy for me. naturally i think that alot of people on this forum might have the same tastes as me, so i figured that we could pool our inspiration and materialistic desires into one thread so that we have our own virtual christmas-shop right here

firstly, i will start on what i've figured might be nice to have as of yet.

books:
- The God Delusion(yeah, ripped that one out of the think tank :p)
- brief history of time(nice to have, though perhaps the newer version is better?)
- generic drawing and art books(you learn as long as you live, train your inner polymath ;))
- perhaps a copy of the lord of the rings triology(been a while since i've read it, didnt want to mess up the movies so i havent read it in like 6 years i think. would be a cardinal sin with one guy i know who had read it 16 times, prolly 25 now)

dvds:
- battlestar galactica series(i wouldnt want it myself really, as i've already seen it, but its a great series so i would consider buying it to my brother in law or my sister)
-ghost in the shell SAC season two(for my sister though, but some of you might want to consider getting the GITS-series and movies for christmas, perhaps Akira too. and if you say "meh, anime sucks", you have no clue because you havent seen these movies :))
- any good movies (that have come out lately? i bought v for vendetta myself, so thats out of the question.)
- lotr triology (would be a fine one, but with HD-version coming out within the next year or two it might be a bit meh. )

misc:
- proper headphones for the trip home with a mic(i ain't bringing my surround system for a 4.5 hour drive on polished ice, through a minor metropolis for some shopping. )
- amplifier and sub for me little 92 Toyota Corolla?? (would be around 1000$ so i think it counts as unlikely at best, and if not, it would be the dreadful single-pack-under-the-christmas-tree-for-you from half the village ;))
- a new cellphone, (my nokia 3210 is bleached white because of the scraped-off polish, but never wish for a cellphone for christmas, you'll get a sucky one.)

and thats about it. half of whats in that list i don't even want because i already got it or i will most likely get it before too long(headphones will be priority A when i go home for christmas the 8th.). so please help me with tips on what i should read/watch/get.

RAM
Wireless headphones
RAM
Any obscure book on millitary hardware 1914-1918, I've exhausted all Victorian bookshops...
RAM...

That is all...

You don't have a copy of Breif History of Time?!? Or LOTR?!? :O I brought myself the trillogy the other year for Christmas (yes, I buy my own presents). Really good version, large hardbacks, high quality paper, beautifully bound, haven't read it since but should last a lifetime. I paid $50/book, seen the same at over $300/book...

I honestly don't know what the fuck I want for Christmas. All I want is something 'big' (as in like one main present) that I actually want but I don't actually want anything. I've got a job, I can buy anything I want, which is why it's making it so hard.

Fin, I have a matching Simerillion, its The Hobbit I need, cant find it cheap anywhere!
The other year my family decided to just get the one really wanted gift. I still use my PDA, my sister still loves her iPod, and I cant even remember what I got last year ;) Only problem is if you end up with something you don't want :p
I knew a girl who was brought up without every exchanging gifts on Christmas, and she was happy. So as far as Im concerned, if I have a good day it doesn't matter whose place, or what date, its still a good day

I have a bunch of cheap-ass, unmatching copies of every Tolkien book there is.. some are pretty much falling apart because I've read them so much. I like them that way, they look used. :p

Just wondering what you are all getting, or hoping to get, this christmas season.

I myself gave into my painting craving and asked for some Bloodbowl minis and more paint brushes.
