Auto-attack hijacker Yuri or RA

Hi :p , I'm new here and i got something to share.

Although you can make hijacker in ra2 with tag ''VehicleThief = '', but they cannot auto hijack their target, make it pretty useless and AI cannot use this. But i think i've found a way to create a auto-attack hijacker and it is very easy.

Just copy the DroneJump weapon to your hijacker unit ,copy the Parasite warhead and add this tag
"MindControl=yes", set the Verses only affect Vehicle. Finally, if you have time, add a new projectile image and your are done. Now your hjacker should auto target any enermy vehicle, get inside the vehicle, and mind control it, work as a offensive hijacker and the AI can use it now.

Beside that, you can add coustom sound to your hijacker when they hijack vehicle , just change the Report tag of the weapon to the sound you want. I add a scream like sound to the weapon, so when my hijacker hijack vehicle , it sound like the driver of the vehicle is killed by my hijacker, very funny.

But there's a downside, because the mindcontrol tag, it will create the mind control line between the hjacked unit and hjacker, although the hjacker has disappear , the line remain there, draw between the unit and the position where it get hijacked but i think it's acceptable.

Some people may not want their hijacker to auto target, so i suggest give this to the AI and keep the original one or add a deployed secondary weapon with no damage at all . When u don't want to use the hijacker, just deploy them, then they won't auto attack anything, and when u find out a huge force come to you or something is worth hijack, undeploy them

Just make a invisible projectile to avoid the mind control lines. :p

Who would want an auto-hijacker anyway? You wouldn't be able to get what you want, unless you made this an AI only infantry.

And ihateharriers, that sentence wasn't even bad and made sense.

good point omega - there really is no need for an auto hijacker because of the loss of control over what you want hijacked. the only potential use is as sort of an expensive terrorist unit that you could use to storm a base and take over all the vehicles, then using them to your own advantage.

as for hogo's post it should go from this:

For the auto attack issue, there is a solution, add a deployed secondary weapon with no damage at all . When u don't want to use the hijacker, just deploy them, then they won't auto attack anything, and when u find out a huge force come to u or something is worth hijacker, undeploy them.

The reason i want a auto attack hijacker is because sometime when i attacked by a huge army, i don't have time to choose what unit i like to hijack and manually order my unit one by one. I want my hijacker doing their job without interrupt the battle too much and let me focus more on other matter like building base defense etc.

yes, and it will force people to use more anti infantry unit when attack AI, not just tank rush.

Hate to break up the silly arguments, but is this or the other tut tested yet? If not they should be moved to general modding discussion, tutorials section is for clearly explained and thoroughly tested techniques. As such I suggest further points such as the AI only and deploy suggestions be edited into the original post.

They have been tested in my own mod and this method had already done by someone. I have edited the first post and title, hope it'll make it more clear.

without using the NonVehicle hack which prevents repair by IFV or something like that.

CanPassiveAcquire on human version but allowed to retal would make sense.

Are you sure that it can't auto grab units like it could in TS? What about adding a virtual scanner weapon to help it like the engineer?

it doesn't work too well thats for sure ..

i remember in ts with scripts it didn't even really kind of work to be honest

the proper vehicle thief even sometimes just stops in front of it

also wouldn't this cause less issues then the hijacker mind controlled bug or whatever

This was true in case if you try to hijack an aircraft with the normal hijacker code, an enter cursor will appear on top of the aircrafttype but the hijacker will just stop in front of it.
