After practicing with your AI thud, I decided to head back into the online arena against human opponents. I used the game manager at the main menu to switch back to the regular DOW DC game without any mods turned on. I made sure to confirm that I am playing with no mods by checking the upper left of the screen at the menu. I even tried exiting and clicking the Relic made DOW exe. shortcut on my desktop while repeating the steps mentioned before.

Every time I get a sync error toward the beginning of the match. I only tried three online skirmishes and the game dropped all players while stating that I had won the match. I don't want to cheat and I'm not sure if my "winning" is indeed reflected in my online record, but I don't want to try again.

Is there anything I can do to COMPLETELY turn the AI mod off? What gives? If I want to play online am I going to have to uninstall the mod, or worse, completely reinstall DOW without the mod?

EDIT>>> I guess I should have searched the forum more fully before posting. I found another topic about it stating that I have to switch to the regular DOW game with the game manager, THEN exit and come back using the normal DOW exe. I'm going to try that now. This should work? If so, I'll delete this topic or Thud, you can if you want.

- Try playing with 2 people instead of 3.
- Did each player have the same AI v2.1 mod installed? All running the same game version? Remember: DC v1.1 came out just under a month ago. There was the one patch update
- If each player runs the v2.1 AI mod themselves does it work fine?
- There should be absolutely zero probs with uninstalling our mod thus your copy of DC is virgin again. WE DO NOT 110% MODIFY THE GAME CODE.

However, make sure you have a dxp2.module in your \DarkCrusade after our mod is uninstalled and it looks like this:

[global]

UIName = $550000
Description = 2nd DoW Expansion Pack Project.
DllName = WXPMod
Playable = 1
ModFolder = DXP2
ModVersion = 1.0
TextureFE = Art/UI/Textures/Title_winter_assault.tga
TextureIcon =

;; //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
;; List of folders to map for this MOD
;; order is important - the first Archives registered will be scanned for files first
DataFolder.1 = %LOCALE%\Data
DataFolder.2 = Data
DataFolder.3 = Data_Shared_Textures\%TEXTURE-LEVEL%
DataFolder.4 = Data_Sound\%SOUND-LEVEL%
DataFolder.5 = Data_Music
DataFolder.6 = Data_Whm\%MODEL-LEVEL%

;; //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
;; List of archives to load for this MOD
;; order is important - the first Archives registered will be scanned for files first
ArchiveFile.1 = %LOCALE%\DXP2DataLoc
ArchiveFile.2 = %LOCALE%\DXP2DataKeys
ArchiveFile.3 = DXP2Data
ArchiveFile.4 = DXP2Data-SharedTextures-%TEXTURE-LEVEL%
ArchiveFile.5 = %LOCALE%\DXP2Data-Sound-Speech
ArchiveFile.6 = DXP2Data-Sound-%SOUND-LEVEL%
ArchiveFile.7 = DXP2Data-Music
ArchiveFile.8 = DXP2Data-Whm-%MODEL-LEVEL%

;; //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
;; List of MODs that this MOD requires to work
RequiredMod.1 = W40k
RequiredMod.2 = dxp2

Also make sure in the file: LOCAL.INI under the line:

currentmoddc=

It should be:

currentmoddc=dxp2

Finally, I would rename the file: WXPMod_DCMod.dll

to something like: WXPMod_DCMod.old

Make sure everyone does this. We will have to examine WTF is going on with these synch errors.

Give me like, 15 miniutes and I'll post back Thud. I hadn't tried restarting after the forced restart when switching in the game manager. I'm going to try that, try an online game, and post back. And I was just trying to play an automatch 1v1 thud, so I have no idea what's going on with my opponent's end of things.

Ok, doing as I stated above seemed to fix it. I just got my ass beat by a Tau vespid rush so the game didn't go too long, but longer than what I had previously achieved. I'm pretty sure the aforementioned solution did indeed fix everthing and completely deactivated the AI mod.

I'm not sure if you can fix this issue Thud, I don't even think it's on your end. It has to do with the game manager at the main menu not doing its job and swithing to what it's supposed to. At the very least, you might want to consider a sticky for this problem or maybe an added section to the faq so people don't mistakenly believe your mod broke their game.

In summary: In order to play online, at this point at least, you must deactivate the AI mod. Using the DOW game manager by itself is inefective. In actualiy, you must restart the game twice. Follow these steps exactly: Switch to normal DOW using the game manager, agree to the forced restart, exit the game, restart the game using the normal DOW DC exe. DO NOT use the AI skirmish exe.

Problem solved.

Well there is another way to get the DoW AI to work with the game manager but its through coying our \AI folder contacting inside our mod folder itself and copying it to the \dxp2\data folder off the root of \DarkCrusade. That way.. the game is forced to use it bypassing the game manager. I use that all the time but thats kuzzz I can do it mega fast and I switch between multiple faction mods I am testing using the dxp2.module which also does not use the game manager at all. I could write up a STICKY/PINNED tutorial how to do this but you have to remember: adding a mod to the \dxp2\data folder off the root requires you to remember its there and you need to rename the folders created so as to keep compatibility if you want to play online. I don't play online myself but if I did I would know what files are edited to change back.

This procedure is known for a long time now. Isn't it mentioned in the FAQ ?
