Obtaining and installing mIRC is quite easy. All you need to do is download the installer from the page below and follow the install wizard.

Connecting to #elvenalliance
Due to my half-arsed connection to Revora at the moment, I can't get the attachment pictures to go in line with the guide. So you'll have to go to the bottom and take a look at the next picture with each step.
Step 1. Open up your freshly installed mIRC program. You'll be treated to this lovely "Your trial version will expire blablabla" message. Ignore it. I've had the program for years and haven't had to register anything. Just click the "Continue" button when it allows you.
Step 2. After hitting "Continue", this window will pop up. You can fill in whatever you want, but the only important bit is the "Nickname" field, as this is what you will show up as in the chat room. Once finished, click the "Server" section on the left hand side.
Step 3. This is the Server window (duh). Here you can manage your Servers, allowing you to add them and choose which you will use for your current session. Click the "Add" button.
Step 4. In the new window, insert the information shown in the screenshot. Once finished, hit the "Add" button.
Step 5. Make sure you have AcidChat picked from the drop down menu and then click on "Connect to Server".
Step 6. After a short wait (mIRC is connecting you to the AcidChat server), this window will pop up. You can just type #elvenalliance in the top field, as I did here. To make life easier for you later, you can hit the "Add" button and make #elvenalliance a default room for you (it should be self-explanatory once you get it open).
OR
If this window doesn't pop up, you should be able to type /join #elvenalliance in the bottom text field in your main window.
