Hey - as you've guessed there is a mod underway called Battle For The Caribbean

-- We are using BFME2, without the expansion, i don't know if you'll be able to use it with ROTWK....



The idea of this mod is to scrap the current factions and in their places have 2: Pirates and The Royal Navy
Naval combat will become a large focus on the game including new ships, hero ships, Ring hero ships and seperate upgrades. (Even a resource gathering ship :o)

We're using the great Pirates of the Caribbean films for ideas and following that for some heroes, units and powers. For example; the ring will be replaced with the "Heart of Davey Jones" which enables you to recruit The Flying Dutschman (Ring-hero ship).

Hopefully we also plan to create many new neutral buildings/enemies which can be used in various ways. Things like abandoned vessels which explode if you ram into them by accident, sea monsters, Tia and her house which spawns treasures (etc.) and moreeee!

Thats the main jist of it, i don't want to spoil too much soo there it is!

At the moment its just a mate and myself doing everything and we're getting a fair bit done but later on we may be recruiting for some extra help. (- if so it will be probably for mapping, posssibly voices and if i will be lucky enough animation... - although we can do the basics that make do...)

Are they custom anims for William?

The Jack Sparrow model/skin look great, although I can't really tell how good the William Turner one is. Any chance of closer shots?

twas originally an inbuilt animation but i copied it for my liking quite a bit... the old one was reallly jedi ish. with swirls and spins ... this ones much more...humanish

and..

his face isnt very much like will from the movies...and his swords a bit dodgy....not one of my best models - he might be remodelled later on

I was wondering how long it would take for you to announce this mod. And if your wondering, I guessed.

Questions, will Jack have his wobbly walk? How much, besides Jack and Will, is already done? What kind of help do you need? Do you have any idea how to encourage said naval warfare? Will Davy Jones and his crew be with the pirates or the navy (I read that Davy Jones and the kraken will be under the employ of the Navy in the third movie :blink: )

Oh and isn't Jack's hair a bit erm... big? :shiftee:

yay loads of juicy questions :D

now i have got a random wobbly/drunked walk animation for him which at the moment is triggered with his "Miraculous Survival" skill (whereby when his health reaches 0 half of it comes back (dwarven grudege)) so when he should die but somehow survives he looks a bit crazy

already done areeee the basic infantry for both sides, the Royal Navy have riflemen, elite swordsmen, pikemen and townspeople, and for pirates we have the pirate rabble, experienced sailors and gunners

hero wise its just Jack, Dave jones and Will - We plan to have Elizabeth, the 2 pirates together with dodgy eye, the 2 navy men who stick together in POTC1, Commodor Norington and Captain Barbosa - and gibs

buildingwise we have modelled about half of them, including new random ideas like a Battle Station which can be used as a defensive structure, and a look out tower ..... we've done quite a bit but still have loads to do

Naval warfare... well there will be lots of new maps which will simply force you to use ships or you can't move. and with a new wide range of ships to choose from and new upgrades for them it should be good to see this side of BFME2 exploited.

Davey Jones and the flying Dutschman will essentially be neutral. His ship is the ring hero and you can summon Davey Jones from it to walk on land once.

(and yes he will be wroking for East Anglia people in 3rd movie :O:O:O can't wait for it)

Hope that answers your questions, if you have any more just ask, i'll try and update some better pics tomorow.

Ooooh! I want to see how you did on Davy Jones!

I'll start by rephrasing the unanswered questions... ;)

What kind of help do you need?

Isn't Jack's hair a bit, big? Maybe you should give him his hat, he should have it in the first and third movies... :ohmy: Majority rules!

Is there going to be a campaign in a future release of this mod? (I mean more future than the future release of this mod :rolleyes: )

Will Barbossa's undead crew serve as the elite pirates? (seeing as they are undead and all)

Will Davy Jone's beard squiggle?

Will Barbossa be undead, or the way he is in the third movie?

What about Bootstrap Bill?

Will Norrington be displayed as he was in the first movie, the second movie, or both?

Will you have a new Kraken with a different head and more teeth?

What about the Chinese guy from the third movie... Well while your at it could you tell me whose side he's on?

What kind of ideas do you have for powers? Edges of the Map Filled in? Cannibal Bone Cages ? (Sends a bunch of bone cages flying through the chosen area) Touch of Destiny? Jack's Compass? Port Royal Cannons? (kinda like Bombard) Summon Davy Jone's crew? Summon Barbossa's Crew?

What are Jack and Will's current commandset?

When do you plan to have a website up and hosted to answer all the questions I have about the mod?

Is your avatar and sig a copy of an ad for POTC3?

What about... Better stop now! ;)

i definetly think that u can use barbossas crew as a 25 pp spell if u are still going to use PP. they would be just like the army of the dead pretty much except they arnet green and go through stuff, but cant die.

haha well thats a lotta questions

Helpwise the only thing me and my mate might need help on is maps, but we plan to focus ont hemt owards the end of the mod so its no big worry - we can map.

Yeh jacks hairs a bit big.... i was thinking a spell maybe something to do with his hat because he was awfully fond of it int he first movie....but....hmmm still thinking about it

Campaign... probablyyy not ..... have to see what happens when we start mapping...but i doubt it

Barbosa's undead crew will be a powerpoint ability 25 or something, yes similar to army of the dead, but less green and more like them :ohmy: they'll be able to walk under water and kill a lot and everything.

Davey Jones beard does squiggle quite a bit, its actually a mesh not just something on the skin :D

Barbosa will probably be his not undead form, probably have a power though where he turns undead for a while and becomes invulnerable...

Bootstrap Bill... will not be featured in this mod.

Norrinton will start off as commodor, then at a level turn to his drunken state

The cracken will be bigger, nastier and scarier than the watcher from bfme2 .

The chinese guy i have no idea about other than his name and the fact that he is "cunning" soo we're goign to leave him out for the time being, and perhaps in a later release include him and some features from POTC3

Spellbookwise we'v had a lot of ideas....from rolling cages, 'The Code' leadership, Plunder a scavenger spell for pirates, cannon barrages, the plague.... but i dont want to spoil toooo much.....:rolleyes:

jack and will keep changing with new ideas... at the moment jack has spells like Jar of Dirt (Which scares away enemies), swordwork (an area attack), miraculous survival, purposeful gunshot, compass that doesnt point north, captain leadership, confusing talk etc... lots of choice still...

Will has swordwork (Area attack), love for elizabeth, 5 hours a day (trains allies), pirate blood, blacksmith background (can target the weak points of a building for critical damage against them), and throw sword.

Websitewise its probably going to have to be a freewebs or something...unless revora are kind enough to offer me space here ^^^^ hinthint

and yes the sig/avatar is for POTC3 :O:O

waheyyy yesss i saw your mod some time back and the pics for some of your ships models looked awesome, off the top of my head i remember the isenguard bomb ship as the best one with all the bombs ontop.....i thought it looked cool :p

btw aware that our ideas are similar we didnt actually copy any of your ideas, we'd been doing thism od for a couple of weeks before i saw your thread about your mod, just incase anyone thought we're being copycats...:p we wernt,

buttt for the moment we're allright thanks, but should we find trouble im coming straight to you cause your ones looked awesome :p (if thats ok with you)

we've completed the black pearl with all its powers/conditions/flags (which looks pretty cool i must say) and a basic ship for either side and their not tooo bad, their pics will be in the next update.

I'm actually rather impressed by your work so far, especially on the concept and planning side of things. I haven't really seen a decent plan for a PotC mod until now. Good work.

And isn't that animation you showcased for Will one of Arwen's cinematic animations?

Anyways, I love the Kraken, Pintel and Ragetti are very good, but maybe Pintel should be a little more fat. I'd like to see Davy Jones and Barbossa in the next update, and Norrington in both commodore and drunk versions in the next one, and then the Flying Dutchman... ;)

Any chance of you posting any tech trees?

:( sorry bout ROTWK...or lack of it :( cant you still play normal bfme2 without ROTWK..... :/

oh well -

The tech trees are not 100000% finalised yet... had a lot of ideas and still they keep changing wtih ideas on how to make them, improve them, scrap them, better ideas etc.... when we have firm ideas they'll be released.

and as for pintels fatness he is already larger, those pics encouraged me to do some changes. - So he is fatter yes ;)

ahh... i'll try and get the Flying Dutchman out in the next update, its just im trying to make it look really good and so i keep editing it a lot...i'll try my best to get him in the next one :D
