So, this evening I placed a $270 purchase for:
A Nvidia 7800GT
A new motherboard
A new case
I'll be receiving the items by... probably Thursday, and we're expecting the first snow storm of the season (And it's a pretty big one too) on Wednesday, so I'll have plenty of time to tinker around with getting things functional. Best of all? New mobo is SLI compatible, and I might still have some resources to buy 2GB of DDR SDRAM!
That, and I have a new power supply which I couldn't install yet because of case size. Even better? Vista Ultimate is coming soon.

One week from now, my computer will be a TANK!
This, of course, means I'll be busy all weekend reading manuals and trying to attempt a motherboard installation so I can play SupCom when it comes out.
So, if you have anything important to say to me, say it by Wednesday. If not, just sit back, and feel good for me

Well... someone helped me purchase the wrong motherboard (Multiple people really). You know who you are
That set me off on a rather... horrible journey, dealing with numerous merchants and no less than ten instances of credit card usage. I started with a $250 budget. I have now spent a total of $635, including the original $270, $350 for a GB of DDR2 and a new socket 775 processor, and $15 for thermal grease. It's been lots of fun.
But I'm back for a while. I'm going to be busy optimizing for the next few days though, mostly running games and getting them to run well.
