I havent either yet. Ive seen some pictures and things online but what exactly is it about?
Basically, it begins in the Death God realm, where all the death gods are gambling and sitting around do nothing and whatnot, except for one, which is Ryuuk. Nothing really interesting happens in the Death God realm, so Ryuuk decides to drop a Death Note onto Earth.
A Death Note is a notebook where if you write the persons name in it, they die, and if you specify a certain death, they will die in that way, you can also set the time which they die.
When the note book drops to earth, a genius student in Yr12, Light, finds it and reads the rules explaining if a persons name is written in it they die etc etc, he thinks its a load of shit, but decides to try it out just for the hell of it, he murders a man who had taken kids hostage at a school, thinking it was a fluke he tries on it a biker who is trying to rape a girl, the guy gets hit by a truck and dies.
Light then starts to murder all the criminals and everyone he thinks is bad, trying to make a perfect world, but as all these people are dieing, the japanese government knows that they are all connected, and the greatest detective in the world, L, gets on the case.
Over the course of the series, it's L trying to figure out who Kira (Killer) is and Light trying to evade L and eventually kill him.
it's the greatest anime i've ever seen.
