Well, glad to have you on here.

I'm shooting for FoC only. With FoC's extra features, I don't really see the benefit of porting it back over to EaW. I mean, anyone who is into the mod community generally should own the expansion anyways.

If you have ideas, hit up the Community Suggestions forum. I can't guarantee that any of them will make the release (or that they're even feasible with EaW), but if enough people get behind something, well, let's just say I don't ignore the fan base :crazed:.

For the initial release, nothing. Beta 1 will only support the Alliance and the Empire as playable factions. After that, who knows? I haven't planned that far in advance. I'm just trying to focus on the first release so you guys can have something to play sooner.

That's pretty comprehensive, heh. The Consortium is pretty loose with canon requirements fortunately. On a side note, one thing I'm not doing with this mod is making units faction-exclusive. For example, say I had a Corellian faction, they could share the Barloz-class, Action IV, CR90, DP20, CC-9600, and CC-7700 with the Alliance.

Basically the same stats that are listed on the Units pages: speed, armament, etc. They show up in the mouseover encyclopedia box.

that should be interesting - it would make a change to what is normally displayed there

another question - what heroes are you going to have in the mod - and how will they be changed (if at all) ?

I'm planning on adding a number of non-combat heroes to augment players' economic options. Hero transports have been limited to Transport class or smaller (no more free star destroyers). All heroes can be assassinated. Respawn times have been increased.

so - will heroes like Ackbar, Thrawn, Piett attach to the fleet flagship then (ie star destroyer, mon cal cruiser, etc) ? - or will they be in transports and then you have to build their flagship (Home One, Admonitor, etc) ?
and what about those heroes like Sundered Heart, Slave 1, Millennium Falcon ? - they are all larger than transport class

Right. Basically, I'm operating under the assumption that if they give a leadership bonus (that orange pulsey-thing on their icon), then they should attach to a capital ship if one is available. Otherwise, they use their custom transport. Ackbar, for example, has a B-wing that he uses as his personal shuttle.

In the case of a battle without capital ships, the leadership bonuses are still in effect, the hero is just slightly more vulnerable. But the transports aren't bad. Unless there's a specific unique unit like the Falcon, the transports are essentially fully-upgraded, level 10 variants, but because they're being piloted by heroic characters, they're much harder to kill and can deal more damage.

My recommendation though, if you're bringing leaders into battle, invest in a dreadnought. They cost a good chunk of population, but they shine as flagships, and they're quite difficult to kill.

For regular, non-leader heroes such as Han and Chewie, they always show up in their transport since that's where they can best aid in the battle. Hero transports do not contribute to the space population limit, so they're always an asset.

"Transport," as I've loosely defined it, is essentially a starfighter-scale ship that you can walk around in, so Slave I and the Falcon qualify. Sundered Heart does not because it's a Corvette, so it's been cut.

sounds good - i hope that if you bring them all into battle they dont all attach to the same ship (when you have more than one capital ship) - because that can be annoying - all the eggs in one basket if you see what i mean

Unfortunately, I think that's hardcoded into EaW, so there's nothing I can do about it (as much as I hate it too). I might post about it and see if anyone else has a viable workaround, but I'm not too optimistic on that. In the meantime, buy dreadnoughts, lots of dreadnoughts .

Couldn't you make the heroes have build options so you could upgrade them to have their canon capital ships? Or is Home One buildable seperate from Ackbar?

i was thinking that... arent there some mods where you get vader in his TIE then you build the executor and he transfers to being in that ?

this would mean you could have Sundered Heart, because you could make it as a buildable unit

or could it work like in skirmish battles, where you have to build the units to use them ? (just based in the galactic map rather than the tactical map)

I was able to make Piett and Thrawn be capable of upgrading to SSD's. Tarkin upgrades to the Death Star. All of those are purchaseable upgrades for heroes. I wrote it so that if Piett or Thrawn die, they lose the SSD and you have to build it again to get it back. Tarkin dies permanently if he dies in the Death Star :D, and you can then build Death Star II.

I have been able to test the upgrade, and it has worked. What I haven't tested yet is the reversion and the destruction of the Death Star.

I've got a quick question: Are you going to increase the population cap in this mod. Battles will be much more fun with a higher population cap.

I was playing around with a few different concepts for heroes, but right now it's a matter of interface space. It's probably something I won't get to for the first release.

Population has been entirely redone, so yeah.

Just on a side note, I will be out of town (and away from the Internet) for about a week starting Saturday, so I won't be able to reply to anything until I get back. I'm trying to put an update together before I leave though, so stay tuned.
