Alrighty. We've got all the specialized threads up but this one and the Mars one, which I'll prolly just Copypaste from this thread. Ultim V is going to be a bit different from your average Runofthemill RPG in that you make your own story thread, sorta like Legend Of Memoria. If you decide to start on Earth, you'll start in some Super-Urbanized environment somewhere. Me n Bernie, the only two USMC players atm will start at the same loaction, Darky and all the Rebels at another location, and so on.
Another thing that'll make this different is the necessity to complete tasks to progress. Think almost like quests from fantasy MMORPGs. Except better. If you don't finish the tasks (which I'll be deifining for you usually in the form of a NPC saying something...), you can't leave the planet you're on.
