Once upon a time, Matze made a cool tool called FinalBIG. It was a good tool to browse and create .BIG files. Unlike the main competitor, XCC Mixer, it used to load very fast and it's also able to preview files (including W3D), etc.. Matze has disappeared or lost interest on it, since the middle of the last year. Now the C&C3 demo is released with most of the files being compressed and read as garbage by FinalBIG and XCC Mixer.

For this reason, I've started OS BIG Editor, because it's open source as XCC, doesn't take long to load and it can be updated by anyone without needing to download over 15mb of SVN and get lost on it..., neither requires an expensive program like Visual Studio 2005 or better to compile it.

I've started working on this tool last wednesday and so far I have the beta 0.4, which allows me to view all ini and some xml files and I can also extract all files, although those set of .imp, .manifest, .bin, .relo are pretty useless at the moment... as well as the .cdata stuff.

Anyway, I've made a basic interface for it, an online help, etc... You can grab the latest version at PPM:
http://www.ppmsite.com

But anyone can host it anywhere.

Have you ever used that? And what are your suggestions to make it better?
