According to CVG the German version of CNC3 will include NOD suicide bombers that don't actually kill themselves. Instead, they drop the bomb and run off the battlefield. This is done due to censorship in Germany. EA assured the change is only an animation and wont affect inter-version balancing. Nevertheless, our german friends should not be surprised when their suicide bombers stay intact.

I don't really understand how that works.
So the animation doesn't have them dying, but surely they must mysteriously disappear instead?

Nothing new to Germany really. I honestly doubt it will surprise many people there that their suicide bombers won't commit suicide afterall.

You don't see anything anyway for the explosion.
So they're still use once bombers, now they're just disposable instead of suicide.

I assume they haven't removed every other death animation for the other infantry units?
Fair enough censoring violence and gore, but it seems a bit daft censoring something that surely everyone who's ever watched the news is exposed to constantly.

Seems to me to be a complete overreaction AGAIN to videogame violence and an issue that really, none of us can realistically do anything about. If I was EA, I would have put two fingers up and told them to **** off.

Games in Germany that contain potentially upsetting material can still be sold, but are only available under the counter. By making this small change, the seller is then able to advertise the game and stock it on shelves as per normal.

It's not a question of videogame violence, but more to questionable, offensive or objectionable content.

Either way, I think it'd be more fitting for NOD bombers to leave the battlefield over detonating themselves. Why waste good resources.

Can the GERMAN PEOPLE and the GERMAN GOV'T since WW2 "get a frick'n clue and welcome themselves to the millenium" and STOP THIS STUPID INFANTILE NON-SENSE? This just gets absurd and childish having to alter console/computer games just to suit a country's violence laws.

Gawd!!!!!!! What a bloody joke! Everytime I hear that a gaming house had to "cater to a country" is utterly and completely assinine.

Well, if they want it to be so, I have no issues with that. It's their choice and only affects their own direct surroundings. EA won't go bankrupt because they had to make one more animation.

Still bloody infantile. Like in America which detests nudity on the TV but is easy on mass violence and killings. I always hold Europeans to be highly enlightened as "their civilization has been around for up to 10x longer than Americas" although stuff like this is just brutally sad that this continues.

Yup, and it has a sort of counter effect to it, as you, Jeeves and Daz just proved

The german government needs to show the public that they are doing 'something' about the recent amok runs at schools. Every single one of the suicide killers was playing brutal computer games. As if it would help to ban all of that. I mean come on. They were armed. Posession of firearms is illegal in germany. Still they got some. Those who really want bloody games and firearms WILL find means to acquire them. The government should not show a token effort. They should find a way to help those that develop the desire to go out and kill, instead of frightening and restricting everyone else!
