Hey, we are hoping to make new and exclusive maps for this amazing mod The battle for middle earth 2: The special extended edition. If you have played the mod, you will have noticed strategy and tactics play a bigger part in the game, so maybe we can revolve our maps around this... for example:
One team starts with a great advantage, prebuilt units eg. a minas tirith army and the other has prebuilt defenses, eg. towers surroundin the fortress. ? therefore one team plays the game defensively and the other offensively.

Anyway, this thread is here for your ideas :) So post away :p

EDIT: changed head line /naz

GREAT thread Riko! :p I surely hope people that are dropping in here, members as well as guest, will help out with the brain storming so you'll get some great ideas for new maps. That would highten this mod even further! :)

I'll think of something myself too... Personally I like the bright and sunny maps with lots of grass, hills and water. Well beautiful nature in short. And also the opposite... dark, dirty maps with lots of rock and smoke... hehe. And yeah, pre built stuff is not bad... like maybe a BIG map with two pre built fortress ruins and abbandoned towers and such... Kind of like Osgilliath stylee... :p

A suggestion: redo every fortress map (the 'old' ones from TBFME, not the new fortresses like Minas Morgul, those are fine) to make them a LOT bigger. I mean, the walls of Helm's Deep are like 4 meter in comparison with the height of the units...

So that makes:

- Helm's Deep
- Minas Tirith (probably impossible)
- ...?

I say stick with the current fortress maps, however I would like to see the return of the build plots here as farm building is very awkward on these maps. That will cause faction problems, but you could implement a 'if player is faction x, spawn build plot x at waypoint y"

Other battles suited would be ones from a possible 'campaign':
  • Dimril Dale at the eastern Gate of Khazad Dûm (Iron Hill Dwarves vs Gundabad Orcs. Remember Azog)
  • Siege of Ost-in-Edil (Saurons host razing Eriador after Celebrimbor discovered that he made The One Ring)
  • Osgiliath (The Witchking comes down from Cirith Ungol and Gondor loses it's former capital for the first time)
  • Isengard
  • Erebor (Dwarves either against Smaug or maybe something like The Battle of Five Armies from The Hobbit
  • Nûmenor fleet against Umbar (where they captured Sauron, i think)

I'd also love to have a map like this:
http://media.pc.ign....mg_1818921.html

Or this:
http://media.pc.ign....mg_1818937.html

I know it's purely for the looks, but I was very disappointed when they weren't in the original game. That's a cool looking chain around the troll's neck in the last screen btw... Maybe a good idea to add it?

Cool pics! Any idea for a map with long grass?
The chain around the trolls head is awesome! I can't check right now, but aren't there trolls with chains on the black gate map (i think for the bfme1-campaign)? If so, would you mind checking what the name of the 'object' is? Maybe they even have anims or could get them from the standard trolls.

It's probably just more of the "look what we could have done for this game, but HAHA sucker, we didn't!" *lol*

Otherwise, I like that high grass too, but it's probably not available in WorldBuilder. (And that chain is really nice. Would be cool to have that on the cave trolls for sure).

That's what should have been in the game from the start. Walkable walls with tower/stairs sections! Ah, well ...

Also, rik, can I point you in the direction of : http://www.bfme2.com/maps
This has all the original BFME 1 maps, converted into BFME II maps. Will take a while to download though. i am sure there is somewhere where you can download them all in one pack. I will return...

And I have with this:

You will want to delete the maps that are already in BFME II

Well heres something i made in about half a min in worldbuilder, the picture was also taking in worldbuilder. I think it looks pretty cool, its good aswell because u can make the grass as long as u want aswell. thats about a scale of 1.4 i think.

Hehe that's pretty nice, and would be a good way to ambush vs a human, especially with the smaller units like goblins.
