This post/topic contains spoilers!

Hi guys, I can't get past the Coratia mission of the GDI campaign in act III. You have to survive about 4 minutes into an damaged low power fucked up base. Anybody knwos how I can beat it?

And BTW, the cutscenes or however to call them are great, but it seems Kane is another person...Wathever, as long as he's bald and cool I don't mind. :p
Please, if you see a mistake in my posts - spelling, grammar, punctuation, or whatever else - point it out. How can one learn from mistakes, if one is not corrected?

Don't think I've got to that mission yet so I can't help with that.

But yeh, Kane seems to have a camper voice than before. Especially if you watch the extra stuff on the Kane Edition DVD whenever Kucan is interviewed.
Maybe it's just me not remembering the old ones right :S

Its somewhat hard mission but i survived it, essentially you can't power up all the defenses at the same time so get extra miners (i think you could) and replace them if losing 'em and make infantry (rocket men mainly) and predators etc and basically hop from one side to another as attacks come with forces and keep repairing/turning off towers based on the direction of attacks.

Usually biggest attacks came from west and north then less bad ones from east..which i usually guarded with forces than with towers so much.

so waiting for the mcv isnt quite so bad but the next thing... mcv arrives but its pinned down by Nod and that getting mcv to base is quite pain...go with big army to clear the way and protect the mcv enroute as Nod will really try stop you from its southwest base.

Once you get mcv in the base..set up more refs if can fit and get all upgrades..namely railguns and gather mammoths and assault the Northeast Nod base..destroy it and build surveyour and go deploy there..and then expand more refs there and then take the southwest base next and finally the southeast base that is cliffed off.

anyways there are much harder missions ahead :p

Hmmm.
What I did was: Make a harvester with your starting money, then make some basic infantry and foxhole them at the south-west and south.
Make 2 APC's and fill them with basic infantry and send them to where the reinforcements will come later and garrison the buildings, when you do that you'll be able to make that way easily passable when the reinforcement does come..

Meanwhile turn off the anti-inf towers on west enterance when you have the foxholes up - and reinforce the North and North-East baseentrances with Predators + Missile-APCs.
And turn off ALL anti-air and just replace them with Pitbulls.

When the reinforcements come, try to clear the buildings before even touching your reinforcements.
After getting your MCV into the camp I'd advice you to demolish the North-Eastern Tank-base first. The infantry-base attacks are negligble if you made a good enough anti-inf defense.

Rest of the mission is DIY.
Keep in mind the last base - South-East, is pretty heavily defended. Best way to get rid of it is Ocra/Firehawks + infantry (Zone Troopers + Missile)

Lurking moar since 2004 2003!

I still haven't conquered this mission yet, but close. Also you all failed to mention. Repair all your structures and defenses right away while you have the money, it doesn't cost that much but increases the survivability of your base alot.

I also found if you power both infantry towers in the west, and one in the south as well as both northern AA turrets and one each of the ground turrets in the north and the east, than it uses the absolute maximum power without going dead.

Keep 3 predators in the north and east and feed one there now and then as one dies. I move a squad of rifleman and missle men to protect the tiberium field, I send another two squads both west and south. Once you have this setup you can last ALONG time.

That is when I run into issues. I get my reinforcements and then the road home is hard. I can get past them and get the MVC up but the losses are large. I drew part of my forces to directly attack there SW base to distract them while the MVC gets to my base.

But those garrisoned buildins are a bastard. So Kazyumi advice aout garrisoning those structures is a good one, because as soon as your reinforcements come those buildings get garrisoned by the enemy.

That should actually solve my dilemma as well. That was my missing logic, garrison those buildings as you move towards thie reinforment zone. So you'll have them when you come back.

Like I said, I still havent conquered it, but I was also brainstorming what Apollo said, all this time I've been defending in the north and east until I get my MVC back home. So I'm essentually wasting my tanks by feeding the front just to defend it.

I should be taking those predators and move northeast instead of waiting for them to come to me. That's alot of micro though. This mission goes from diapers to high school right away.

This mission is driving me crazy. I keep getting destroyed by suicide bombers. They kill my rifle squads, my anti infantry towers, and the last time I tried, they killed 10 APC's and then my MCV :xcahik_: How do I get my MCV back to the base? If I leave units to guard the base, then I don't have the fire power to fight my way up to the MCV, but if I take all my units, then the base gets over run, and the suicide bombers end up killing me on my way back anyway

The mission is actually very easy if you know the trick (see below), this is how I've done it:

The trick is to play agressive, power on your Guardian Cannons at the east and north, dig in your Rifle Squad in the south and west. Put your Pitbull in the west of your base and power on all AA guns. I don't know if you have enough power for this but I do know that I've lost my Barracks somehwere in the mission and 1 Power Plant so. Whatever, if you don't have enough power sell your Barracks, you won't need it. Meanwhile, start building a few Predators. I builded 4 Predators and sended them with the 2 Predators I already had to the north east base. I managed to destroy 1 War Factory and some other stuff. I repaired my base if needed and started buildign more Predators (around 6 - 8). I sended them again to the north east base and taked that base out. By that time my MCV arrived. I sended my Predators back to my base and builded some Predators (I had 15 in total). I also builded 5 APC's (with no infantry inside, not needed IMO). So with that 15 Predators and 5 APC's I started rolling to the south west base and destroyed it. I recommend to destroy every civilian building you see because the AI will garrison these if you have control of your MCV and then it's very hard to compelte the bonus objective (keep your MCV unharmed till it's in your base). When your MCV arrives at your base I builded an Airfield and putted all my remainign forces on he Tiberium field to protect my Harvesters from Venoms / Vertigo's. Build Orca's, destroy AA defences, build more Orca's, destroy Air Towers to stop enemy air attacks, build again more Orca's, destroy Construction Yard, Build mroe Orca's, destroy Tech Center. And don't forget to use the Orca Strike power.
Please, if you see a mistake in my posts - spelling, grammar, punctuation, or whatever else - point it out. How can one learn from mistakes, if one is not corrected?

I was going to register to actually follow this one up, but it's extremely simple, given a little micromanagement and a little patience.
Oh, and if you wanna nut this one out yourself, guys, don't read this. ;)

Er, yeah. It's a long post, too. XD

Why the heck are you going after your MCV when your own base is still under heavy attack?

First, repair ALL structures.
Power ALL buildings up, and south/north and the guns to the er, right. (that's on default camera angle) (east or west? I forget)
Most of the major infantry attacks will come from the south as they are going to try to get to your harvester.

Back up your north and right turrets with Predators ONLY (since it's exclusively a vehicle base)
and back up your south and left turrets (the latter which are powered down) with 2-3 APC's loaded with rifle men.

Keep watch of your predators and APCs, and remember to repair near the War Factory when they get depseratly low on health. Spares are also very useful.

Keep rocket soldiers around, and a few bulldogs to back them up.

Have TWO, count them, TWO harvesters. Basic doubling of your economy's output.. Actually, do that first when these attacks are still light.

Since you should have a bit of money now that you've doubled your economy and successfully defended your base, start building predator tanks... Saaaay, 10-12?
While making your attack, obviously you aren't going to need your north and left turrets, as those vehicles will be thoroughly distracted... ;)
Disable them and activate a couple of AA turrets and your other anti-infantry turrets.

Oh, and by the way, you should also consider capturing their Crane/Const. Yard. After you've done that, you will have the power of both factions, and your power problem = solved.
However, if you DO end up capturing, make sure you build AA turrets in your new base - it'll be treated as a priority if you've got enough stuff captured by those pesky aircraft.

When that's all said and done, you can do a number of things, really. You can build now, so really, the MCV which ISN'T being harmed (the lasers are simply attacking ground next to an empty building nowhere near the MCV)
Take out whatever you want (I suggest taking out the infantry base at the lower left corner of the map first) and all it's units, then just run your MCV along.
Bonus objective and standard objective achieved that way, given you don't run into any aircraft.

Unpack your MCV, and then make a few suicide runs with Orca's or whatever ship you choose since you have Nod tech by now and win the mission.

Easy money. $$$

Capturing bases is so stupidly useful in the GDI campaign it's not even funny. :crazed:

i finally finished the mission, here's how i did it:
- repair everything
- build another harvester
- build some pitbulls, some apcs and lots of infantry
- put riflemen southwest
- put tanks and missile-apcs northwest
- put pitbulls southwest and northeast next to the AA guns
- when the reinforcements come, send some tanks and rifle-apcs
- ---SAVE!---
- when transporting the MCV, always keep the rest of your troops around it
- unpack it in your base
- build stuff and attack northeast and southwest (easy)

then the southeast base was left, this was very hard. what i did was this, but it could have been easier:
- bomb with orcas (failed)
- build tanks and transport them up (success, destroyed their AA)
- build pitbulls and transport them up (failed)
- build AA and draw the enemy aircraft to them with an orca (success)
- keep doing the above to destroy their air towers and aircraft
- send in potentially-suicide orcas to clean up the rest

What difficulty level are you playing on? I've had no problems to finish it just by spamming Avatars and Vertigos (on medium).

I defended the North and East with Tank patrol. Build some bunker (by using Riflemen ability) at West and South to support towers from infantry attack. If you can extend the bunker line to the bridge, it will help you stop infantry attack easier since infantry attacks come from a base to Southwest.

And this might help you when dealing with Nod during late game.

-Southwest base: Infantry attack
-Northeast base: Vehicle attack
-Southeast base: Air attack (this base is on the cliff and can only be reached by air)

Try capture some Nod buildings. It could help a lot in order to attack the Southeast base.
