I’m facing a bit of a dilemma at the moment regarding the RAF post-war bomber. There are dozens of planes I could pick from but I whittled it down to four but I still can’t make up my mind. So I thought I’d ask the audience :p here is a quick rundown of the four planes.

Avro Lincoln

It’s basically just a bigger Lancaster, it did however go into service unlike the other three, once I make the vxl of the Lancaster it would be piss easy to convert to the Lincoln.

Vickers Type C

This has to be the coolest of the four but it’s a huge plane, on par with the likes of the B-36 etc. It’s a paper project from 1943 with the prototype estimated to be ready by 1948. The end of the war & the beginning of the jet age put an end to it tho.

Short Sperrin

This plane is the little brother of the V-bombers, it was designed as fullback in case the V-bombers got into trouble during development. 2 of them where built but the V-bombers where a success so there was no need for anymore.

Gloster Jet Bomber

My only source of information on this one is from a book, there is nothing on the internet so I don’t have a pic at hand unfortunately. Also it doesn’t even have a name to make things even more difficult >_< It’s the first ever British jet bomber design dating from late 1941, it’s a good sound design but at that time there wasn’t any engines powerful enough to make it useful. To give you an idea of what it looks like think of a jet powered B-29 with the tail from the Meteor.

I'd either go with the Lincoln or Sperrin. There is nothing wrong with paper projects IMO but seeing as this is the late/postwar I don't see how 1941 or 1943 era concepts could still match the more modern post-war military ideal. For Nazi Germany, this kind of fudging is alright, because the idea of a 'postwar' reich is more fantastical than any of their designs... but the British have a bit of... disgression?

The Vicker's is beautiful, although I wonder about it's proformance and stats ingame. If the other sides all have prop-driven heavy bombers for this timeperiod I guess this would be okay (the Japanese have some huge similar bomber, no?), but lacking jet power postwar just seems very unlike the British mentality.

The only reason I didn't dismiss the Lincoln was due to how practical a choice it is, but the Sperrin seems the middle of the road choice here.

Do whatever you like, it's your mod. If you add in Nazi UFOs though, I'll murder you with my bare hands.
Being a total douche.

I`m guessing that you`re going to make them all one day anyway, but I`d say the lincoln cause it was actually used :p

Sperrin!

Lincoln is too close to the Lanc and Vickers C looks utterly bizarre and a tad ugly.

The Sperrin has unusual/cool looking engine nacelles.

What kind bombs you want? If off-map, I'd go VickersC; if for tacticals, I like Gloster.
But anyway, I'd like the most if you will make them all :p

I've decided to go with the Short Sperrin, it's the next vxl I plan to make too.

Didn't see this before.
Well perhaps the sperrin is the better of the lot, but the Avro Lincoln is a classic which actually saw long term service as a bomber in the RAF.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Andre 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
