I try to edit CnC3 csf file with Zero Hour csf editor.
It doesn't work and says file not compatible.
Is there a way to edit CnC3 csf file?

I'm curious - where in C&C3 are all the "text blurbs" about each unit, building, ability? ie. I build a Pitbull, it arrives, I highlight it, then highlight its image on the bottom-right and it then shows a popup box with all that info on the Pitbull. Where is that text? I looked everywhere.

I am trying to build a small database on all the sides as I'm finding some new stuff I never knew was there (ie. Nod Temple of Nod has an ability you can use to counter EMP blasts to resume regular operations. Never saw that..).

Try saving your edited file as a string file and see if that helps.

They might have a new CSF header format (different way its coded), once its found out if thats the case i could supply a CSF Editor in a day or 2, but It would help if i could get a hold on a CnC3 CSF File

Quick, somebody give this man a file to mess with!

I'm not at home and I don't have CNC3 installed on my laptop, or else I'd have uploaded it for you...

ok the cnc3.csf is under refpack compression so if you decompress it then you can open it with the csf editor

Ive been working on this alot lately!
Ive figured out the CSF File format (good news!)
Im about 95% done with it, it will have these capabilities

Export to BIG *done*
Export to CompressedBIG
Export to INI *done*
Save to CSF *done*
Save to CompressedCSF
Save to STR *done*
Save to CompressedSTR
Import from BIG *done*
Import from CompressedBIG *done*
Import from INI *done*
Open from CSF *done*
Open from CompressedCSF *done*
Open from STR *done*
Open from CompressedSTR *done*

Its compatible with all CNC games, and all BFME games

Also different ways of organizing, viewing, searching, and manipulating strings

One might say this is overkill on such a 'simple program' but it doesn't seem anyone but me and Scorpio9a know the CSF file format, so I wanted to cover every aspect of editing string files. Comments/Ideas?

well, once this is released i hope i can put it in great use. and it might be handy to also dont make a complex UI just a simple one. and it doesnt need to have fancy graphics:P.

Its sharp looking, not complicating at all, and not to graphicy (excuse my poor attempt at creating a word)

Perfect. Your hordebuilder and FXparticlesystem creator were all genius and so will your CSF editor :) .

Graphicy doesn't sound too bad at all...

well, i hope when it is released it will be around the time that ea releases its tools(1 week before it). so we can already start it a little. and it is may so we can expect it about a few weeks:). but i still do know we will get a bugged version. since thats how it always goes with EA.
-no harm or hate meant to EA only my opinion about them releaseing some tools.-

Someone afraid of my posts/essays? :p

From my experience their tools are never perfect but at least they release them right? Besides, we're modders, we are bound find a way around any bugs EA can give us... The more programming-savvy members make tools and the rest of us find workarounds and such to achieve certain effects... I just wish that I had gotten T3A to be around during its golden age... But I was able to figure out how to change the font color, and I am pretty proud of that.

I'd like to try modding CnC3 sometime, but it is a little expensive for someone who is not that interested in it (like I said in other topics, I prefer the TS sci-fi feel, TD bored me ) From what I've seen however, it has some shortcomings, but it looks like a great game... I just wish I could help discover how to code in those veinholes! Though I probably am not pro enough yet... :)

EA should hire Gil-Galad to make their tools! Gil-Galad, your job is to take every tool EA releases and make it better...

EDIT: Do I have as many smileys as Lauri yet? :umad: Edited to clean up some redundant smileys...

EDIT 3: Ok I finally got it cleaned up!
