EDIT: Solved by Sûl & Robnkarla!

Each time the mod (the game) is loaded/started up... there are two menu items that reset like this...
Red markings are what they reset to, despite that the menu still indicates maximum settings for all! You have to set the game to another setting (adjusting one of the parametars vill do), click Done, re-enter and then reset to maximum, and then click done again for the game to load and keep the maximum settings! But this is only until next time the game is reloaded... and the "bug" repeats itself? What could cause this???

*bump* Still no takers on this? This is really annoying... The original game does not have it and the only files I can relate to this are identical?

Playing games? Ah, you'll never be a good modder if you get involved in actually playing them!

Though I have no idea, have you tried a reinstall of the game? Don't lose the mod info, though!

No, this is in the mod somehow... :(
The original game hasn't got it!

Its like it can't "remember" the settings between each load/startup... ?

Hey Chriz,

I believe that it happens only when you use the -mod command. I cannot seem to make it go away either no matter what I do. Annoying when taking screenshots.

umm, yeah. the goblin war waged on, but died down. There was a lotta "Wow, Nazguls gonna have his hands full when HE gets back"...but hopefully the crushing weight of the public's opinion won't hinder you on your quest for the ultimate modification.

^Yeah, I'm back my little snagas

Back on topic: I'll try to talk to 2Play asap and see if he might know something about this bug... If that is true that it only affects mod using -mod command :/

Hey,

Well here is an update. I've isolated as far as I can tell what is causing this. The only thing left would be to fix it (Outside of 2 big files)

For testing and everything, this is caused by having 2 gamedata blocks of code. As you already know, the -mod command does not load what you have in gamedat.ini, but instead loads what it has in the oringal .ini file. For some reason, I think the options are loaded after the first block is read, but before the second one that you've moved to a different location using the -mod command. When it opens the gamedata up again, even though there may be nothing in the code, it resets the game settings.

To make a long story short (too late!), the best way to demonstrate it would be to find where you have the gamedata block and remove it (temporarily) from the .big file. Load the game and the bug goes away. (At least it did for me.) I still need to play with different files to see if there is one file that will load it correctly, but at least for my mod I've found the root cause if not an answer to fix.

This would also explain why it only happens with the -mod command. No other approach tries to load 2 gamedata blocks.

Robert J.

And i didn't even see the gamedata.ini in the objects folder!! :thumbsupsmiley:

Thanks. And this may just be a REALLY good explanation.!

I see everywhere that everybody is speaking about .big files, even while the developement of the mod, just know something, with th -mod command, you don't need to have the ini under a .big file, you can launch the mod with all your files extracted, that's not a problem, and that's easier when you're developing a mod :thumbsupsmiley:

Maybe that you're already doing that, it's just to let you know if you didn't know that before

^ That's exactly what I've been doing from the start! It would be pure hell to mod if I didn't :p
But it does not help that bug :(

*update*

I just thought I should let you all know that Sûl & RJ found the reason for this annoying bug too and Sûl's working on implementing the fix for next Beta (4.6) :)
