Europe is a playground for Corps. Look at Vista's prices to convince yourself.

Australia is worse. For them it's cheaper to buy and import a Vista machine or a Ps3 from the US than to buy locally :)

As to the comments with the Ps3, it's a harsh thing to say,but it's pretty much an "I told you so" coming from everyone that hasn't jumped onto the z0mg! Sony! bandwagon and has taken a look at (and tried out) the product objectively before buying. I played Motorstorm and Resistance: Fall of Man and was overwhelmed at how poor the games were compared to even games that are currently appearing for the Ps2.

Perhaps I may be swayed in future by far better, later releases; I intend to bring modding to the 360 and the Ps3 in time and will buy each console when required for development, but as an entertainment system, it's failing spectacularily. Sales might have been excellent over the launch weekend, but they've slumped rapidly and that's going to have a serious knock on effect for future game releases, who will likely move to competing platforms through lack of Ps3 installations; the PC and the 360.

Sony do take the piss with Europe, especially in feuds with Sony America, this intergrated global strategy, Sony doesn't really have.

I admit having a PS3 on launch is a bad idea unless

1) your rich family member buys it

2) its been imported (like from Hong Kong)

PS3 is more of a fashion statement although FEAR and Motorstorm do show what the PS3 is capable of.

You should wait for the big hit titles to come out and when Sony Online has proper support.

It's coming to 360 as well (it might even be a temporary 360 exclusive, I forget). Ace Combat 6 is also on 360.

We (360 adopters) get GTA IV at the same time as PS3 boys, and we get a little something extra too in 2008, by way of DLC (probably 800 points [$10] extra, but hey). And, yes, AC6 is coming out for 360 as well. Namco laughed at Ubisoft's petty attempt for a jet dogfighting game.

OLD SIG
When history witnesses a great change Razgriz reveals itself,
first as a dark demon. As a demon it uses it power to rain death upon the land,
and then it dies. However after a period of slumber Razgriz returns
As the demon sleeps, man turns on man.
Its own blood, and madness soon cover the earth.
From the depths of despair awaken the Razgriz.
Its raven wings ablaze in majestic light.
Amidst the eternal waves of time
From a ripple of change shall the storm rise
Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon
Behold the Razgriz, its wings of black sheath
The demon soars through the dark skies
Fear and Death trail its shadow beneath
Until Men united wield a hallowed sabre
In Final Reckoning, the beast is slain.

if metal gear solid 4 comes for the xbox at the same time as for ps3, it would be a bullet in the head for the ps3. gta4 for xbox? hehehe, thats prolly a bullet in the leg for ps3.

on the topic of bloody prices. the more people buy games online and the likes, the less money will go to the middle men, the cheaper physical games will become. is there any function for the newest gen of consoles for game downloading? i know the xbox has demo downloads, so it shouldnt be impossible to develop that further.

Xbox 360 has actual game downloads aswell, but they're set under "Arcade" as they're relatively small games. Alien Hominid for example.

There's no reason a full size game couldn't be placed on there for download, but you do run into one small issue.
File size.

It'll take forever to download a full game, and you're going to fill your hard drive up very quickly.

PS3 has an online store where you can buy games and shit..
Wii has an online channel where you can buy retro games so far, they're gonna be offering new games on there at some point too.

I Just hooked up my PS3 to the net & I'm downloading Grand Turismo HD, Ridge Racer 7 demo & the GTA:IV trailer. Took all bloody day to set it all up but there is plenty of goodies so it was worth it.

FEAR has been present on the PC for nearly two years, and is also coming to the 360. Motorstorm is also a poor example; it has a few redeeming visual features but lacks anything particularily noteworthy. It has hardly any tracks, and all of those are incredibly tight and linear; even when you do careen off a cliff, you're not even treated to some entertaining fireworks, nope, just plonked straight back on the track everytime you mess up. It's a dull, dull game by most standards.

However waiting for better games is definitely the way to go. You won't have blown as much money with the inevitable future price reductions coming from Ps3's slumping sales, and you won't have the hardware sat around wasting space and gathering dust.

A little OT, but does the PS3 stream its games at 1080p? I've got an HDTV that'll play at that resolution but I don't have an HD signal or a HDDVD or BluRay player.

PS3 is way overpriced and 360 graphics are about equal + 360 has better games. Xbox360 FTW (my m8 calls it the seXbox which i gotta admit has a ring to it)
