the idea i have is ground combat is dominated by the giant robot things but there would also be human troops 1/20 the size of the giant robots in groups of like 50 it would take like 8 groups of them to take down a robot thing. and they die if they are stepped on. just like what the tie tank does to enemy troops

Kind of makes them pointless, why would you spend money on men when it takes 100 of them to take down a lv1 MS.

thats exactly the point actually mostly useless human troops that cost almost nothing only thing they are good for is getting stepped on. or maybe providing a distraction

Good point. Just think about it, if you took 100 men on aginst a Mobile Suit, it would just step on em. Sure, give the guys rockets, but a MS can defend aginst salvos of missles easy even if its a sqare hit due to its shielding/armor thing.

Yep, chances are you will see men on the battlefield BUT no as units themselves, I do plan to have men visably operating or present with larger units like artillery and such. Just to keep a sense of scale.

ACTUALLY: I just was watching something on the web. Its called:

Mobile Ops: The One Year War

Its based on the Gundam SEED setting, but the infantry seems more formidable than you think.

Even if I knew nothing about that game you can tell its not seed era because of the title "The One Year War"

Anyway that game is based on being able to enter or leave a MS whenever you want. The soldiers are still only effective against other soldiers on the battlefield. On top of that one year war era is completely different than seed. Zaku's could be damaged by rocket launcher were as in seed era they would have no effect. But even for the zaku it would have to be a really lucky shot.

Don't get your hopes too high for this game or you might get disappointed. I don't want to jinx this game, but most gundam games that came out over the years all sucked. Come to think there weren't any good ones released besides SD Gundam: G Generation, that wasw because it was a turn based rpg and not a fps.
