I’m thinking about the pros & cons of the towed defensive weapons again & as usual I’m undecided
From the very start of D-day towed heavy guns have been a major feature in D-day but after fully testing them there usefulness is in doubt. The AI doesn’t use the towing feature & generally targets them more then anything so the type of siege warfare that the towed weapons are most suited too rarely comes up. However in human Vs human games they should be very useful, I can imagine two players setting up front lines with them & having a no mans land in-between etc.
My main concern about them tho is the enormous amount of time that is needed to make the towed guns. Where as a fixed gun just needs one vxl a towed one needs two different vxls of the gun, a vehicle to tow it & also a building with a complex build-up to show the gun & vehicle separating.
Normally I wouldn’t really care how long it took to make as long as it looked cool in the end but now I’m thinking that D-day needs to be finished asap & is it really worth all that work for something that isn’t all that useful?

I would think no, but thats just me.. never fan of towed things..its just fragile things to me that wont last in a blitzkrieg war or necessarily be quick enough to setup in such a game. (i presume they are built like trucks and driven to destination and deployed for example)
anyways if you remain undecided, you could maybe think about getting everything else done and then consider it again

hmmm,
i say: you maybe create a box.. let it have another few boxes for turrets.. checkhow it plays : like is it usefull.. is it A B C OR D.. Etc..
then if you think it is good.. then create the graphics.. but thats how i would do it...

I'd say just stick to the actual gun for use as a base defense for now, and if you feel like it do the anims/towed version further down the line.
it's a nice detail for sure, but maybe it can wait to be added?

Why not both? A 6lbr could be manhandled, whilst a 5.5" is impractical to move without heavy towing. The 6lbr is a useful field AT gun, whilst you wouldn't have the 5.5's if you weren't planning a bombardment on a target. Think that would be quite well represented by the need for heavy peices to be set up..
In LS I have a lighter and heavier gun per side, and if you're using the heavies you should be prepared to pay attention to using them.
