hey guys another question. what can i use to open and edit .dds files? im looking into editing some hero pix.

what other things do i need?
i have the picture extracted and it is a .dds file, i have GIMPshop and i dont know what else im going to need. any help?

If you can't open it yet, then you'll need a .dds plugin. Once you have that you can edit the images to your heart's content :p

i got another problem now. minor yet still a problem. i edited a hero just as a test because i got everthing set up. I put a new thing in the Textures.big and called it hiwitchkingNEW.dds. when i play in game it doesnt show up, why? :p thanks ;)

well, if you put it in the big file as hiwitchkingNEW.dds, how do you think the game would know that this is a new skin for the witch-king? ;)

so to make it appear:
- put it as hiwitchking.dds
- or edit the witchking model or (easier) his ini codes to let him use the hiwitchkingNEW.dss texture (however, then you'd also have to edit asset.dat)

the first option is easier :p

ok i got it to work. another question im haveing quite a problem with. my Sauron has a Word of Power. i made an FX with the FX particle maker from {IP} Gil-Galad. the fx doesnt show up at all? if you would like to see what could be wrong pm me with what you would need and i will send it to you.

OK nevermind i found it i put the wrong FX name in. the fxparticlesystem.ini. i still need suggestions on what should be in the last two slots of Sauron. i also need one slot for Elrond. (elrond has spawn allies, arrowstorm, give upgrade) also does anyone have the behavior tags for the SpecialPower SuperweaponRainOfFire? i cant find where it is and might add it to sauron or elrond.

New question. I used the csf editor to edit/add some random strings for powers etc. i put the lotr.csf file back in the ENGLISH.BIG and saved. the problem is now it doesnt show anything when i look at the power on the game. it just says MISSING:CONTROLBAR:ToolTipSauronWOP can anyone help? :xd: thanks :lol:

Check for typos and make sure you've created both strings, commandbuttons need a title and a description.

Ok i retried and it still doesnt show up. i made a new string and saved. then i placed the lotr.csf in the English.big and still nothing.
i even copied the CONTROBAR:ToolTipSauronWordOfPower directly from the csf editor. what could i be doing wrong? im really not likeing how i can read Saurons word of power and have to read a MISSING: thing.

Ok still need stuff for the above post,but i also need to know this. i was looking through the map.ini of ringwars v9 and found this (below) my question is Where in the world do i put this in my ini.big to make it work? im trying to figure out a good way to make a new move and was gonna first copy this then make somethin new.

For the first question, you need to put it in the latest patch file you have for the game. For patch 1.3, it should be called "_englishpatch103" Just replace the lotr.csf file with yours.

Fot the projectile, first name it something different so it doesn't conflict with Eomer's spear projectile. Then put the code in the file "GoodFactionSubObjects.ini" You then need to modify the code since it was originally in a map.ini file. It should now look something like this:

about the second question, it depends. do you want to add a new projectile, or just change eomer's current spear?

2playgames just to ask do you have or have played ringwars? if so have you gotten isildur?
isildur has this move where he shoots this "spear" like projectile that BLOWS up on contact with the enemies. so im not sure if i would be just copying it or making a new one. it appears to work as a spear in game but doesnt blow up. whats up with that? :p thanks :D

thanks 2playgames it works now. now my Elrond has an explosive spear to throw at enemies. lol i should give it to a hobbit. also if i were to upload my mod to my site would you guys actually look at it? the site is in my sig. its the big pic.its just a new ini.big called newmod that you switch out your original ini.big for. and i think thats about it. but it wont be completly finished anytime soon
