Well a number of people are both disappointed and/or pissed because EA did not include a snow environment in Tiberium Wars. So some people think the community should create a texture pack that will add snow to the game.

The problems are such: Firstly, this will be a mod so you can only play versus other people who have the texture pack (and you can't play on snow maps unless you have the pack)[unless of course it is possible to include custom .big files with maps for the snow].

Secondly, while new ground textures are easy, and falling snow particles are probably also easy, for a proper snow environment, most structures and map props (and maybe even vehicles and infantry) would need to have secondary skins created for the snow environment.

Anyways, there's some talk about it on a few forums including PPM here.

I myself will be creating my own texture pack that will ship with my mod, but that won't present mismatch errors because it is part of the mod they will need.

Well, Hostile was saying in his post there that we could add snow terrain textures and that the buildings and units would lack snow skins, but that it would be cool nontheless. Basicly what you said in your first post.

Wow, this should be moved to the showcase topic? Since it contains good eye candy  and i can't wait for the texture pack to be released ;).

Awesome work, MB. :p I suggest you release those in some sort of texture pack and possibly with a custom snow map or two to add some more environments.

*Moved the topic to CNC3 Showcase.

The only thing is, I'm pretty sure it would cause mismatch errors (even if you weren't playing on the snow map)(or I could be totally wrong about that).

But god knows what it would do to online map transfers...
