I noticed many of you liked the idea of the Dorwinion faction, I decided to start planning the faction units and heroes. It's not 100% sure if this faction will eventually be made, but JEV3's storyline of the eastern lands inspired me to create this new faction :p

UNITS:
- Dorwinion Peasant (Weak peasants)
- Dorwinion Soldiers (Basic swordsmen)
- Pitchforkers (Basic pikemen)
- Dwarves of Orocarni (Basic archers)
- Riders of Helcar (Basic cavalry)
- Avari Warriors (Heavy swordsmen)
- Dorwinion Bowmen (Heavy archers)
- Cuivienen Pikemen (Heavy Pikemen)
- Merchants of Dorwinion (Special infantry)
- Cuivienen Horsemen (Heavy cavalry, can toggle between bow and spear)
- Battering Ram (Basic siege)
- Moriquendi Archers (Elite archers)
- Hildorien Axemen (Elite swordsmen)
- Khazad Warrior (Special infantry)
- Guardians of Kalorme (Hero Horde, can toggle between melee and spear throwing)
- Kine of Araw (Elite cavalry/siege)

HEROES:
- Alatar (The Blue Wizard)
- King Bladorthin II (King of Dorwinion) [Hope RA doens't mind if I use the name, if it's not ok let me know]
- Borlach (Leader of Hildorien)
- Dasron (Merchant leader of Dorwinion)
- Tulamdir (Elf captain of Cuivienen)
- Rathvith (Dwarven king of Orocarni)

Post your ideas, comments etc. in this thread :p

Sounds really awesome only thing, that i reckon should be changed is the drwarve of arcani being archers, i reckon they should be the basic swordsmen or pikeman, as dwarves make good pikeman becasue of there shout, stout low centre of gravity, making them very stabel and tough. maybe how about changinf the dorwinnion soldiers into dorwinnion sentrys or guardsmen (basic archers) and make the dwarve basic swordsmen well that wat i rekcon anyways, after all its your mod, do wat u think is best

The Dwarves of Orocarni are crossbowmen. Since there are no other Dwarven archers in the game, I think Dwarven Crossbowmen would be cool :)

What is their gameplay gonna be like? You can kinda tell I was having trouble with that when I wrote the story... :xcahik_: :)

How about Tulamdir for the elf hero... his name means bringer of hope...
He who bears skill but lacks effort, makes himself inferior to those who have no skill but try nonetheless.

I think the unitlist might be bit too...

Monstrously huge? There's no way that can all be balanced...

If you think that's a huge list, take a look at the Evil Men Tech Tree :) I might take some units away, but one of the goals of WotE is to make each faction enormous = more strategic choices :xcahik_:

Anyway I like the name Tulamdir, so I guess that's going to be the name of the Elvish hero... I'm not sure about the Dragon hero idea, the powers sound interesting but it would be a bit OP to have two really powerful heroes (Alatar & Ornorin).

I agree with GrandMoffDima, why dragons couldn't be good?
and if it have bad eagles why that shouldn't have good dragons? :)

Dragons are evil spirits in the forms of great lizards, some fly, some don't... You take away the evil spirit part, they are just another animal... Now I don't see why a good maia would want to take the form of a dragon...

To me it is like having a good Balrog for Dorwinion... Check in RA's forums, and there is a huge essay on dragons, read it and then think if your suggestion could work... :xcahik_:

Glad you like the name Ithron :) I was going to pick a random name from Norse mythology for dwarves but I remembered Zimoo posting a definitive list of dwarf names... so I thought maybe you could look through it and pick one... I don't know where it is, you may have to use search. :p

I'm becoming too well known around here...

9. Then sought the gods their assembly-seats,
The holy ones, and council held,
To find who should raise the race of dwarfs
Out of Brimir's blood and the legs of Blain.

10. There was Motsognir the mightiest made
Of all the dwarfs, and Durin next;
Many a likeness of men they made,
The dwarfs in the earth, as Durin said.

11. Nyi and Nithi, Northri and Suthri,
Austri and Vestri, Althjof, Dvalin,
Nar and Nain, Niping, Dain,
Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Nori,
An and Onar, Ai, Mjothvitnir,

12. Vigg and Gandalf, Vindalf, Thrain,
Thekk and Thorin, Thror, Vit and Lit,
Nyr and Nyrath,
Regin and Rathvith — now have I told the list aright.

13. Fili, Kili, Fundin, Nali,
Heptifili, Hannar, Sviur,
Frar, Hornbori, Fræg and Loni,
Aurvang, Jari, Eikinskjaldi.

14. The race of the dwarfs in Dvalin's throng
Down to Lofar the list must I tell;
The rocks they left, and through the wet lands
They sought a home in the fields of sand.

15. There were Draupnir and Dolgthrasir,
Hor, Haugspori, Hlevang, Gloin,
Dori, Ori, Duf, Andvari,
Skirfir, Virfir, Skafith, Ai.

16. Alf and Yngvi, Eikinskjaldi;
Fjalar and Frosti, Fith and Ginnar;
So for all time shall the tale be known,
The list of all the forbears of Lofar.

I found that...somewhere. Many of the names were used by Tolkien, but on the contrary many don't really sound at all right for a Tolkien dwarf (Eikinskjald :lol:).

Generally I'd say try and get names relatively close-sounding to known Tolkien dwarves...

Dragons=evil spirits-->wtf ? O_o
As far as I know dragons were created to mock eagles just like orcs were created to mock elves and trolls mock ents but anyway on topic.
The unit list looks good and its imo very creative :lol:

Dragons were not created by Morgoth. Morgoth did not have the power to create, only Eru Iluvatar could. They were Maia, taking the form of dragons and allying with Morgoth. They could never, ever be good.

you know zimoo, Eikinskjald means Oakenshield :lol: it's probably norse (dunno what the word is), but the correct norwegian version is Eikenskjold.... so you'd probably understand why I'd be able to understand it :unsure:
still, the 16 list looks most untolkish :sad2:
