Oh, that is great! The script may be used as a launching pad for BFME II .w3d files decryption!

As I see, it works with Blender. But I do not know, whether 3DS Max supports this type of scritping. However, you may always use an oblique path of convertion into Blender followed by exporting into .3ds format and than opening the file in any version of 3DS Max...
Well, I guess so.

An importer to Blender is exactly what I needed. I have you to thank for a new and better workflow for creating BfME II models. =D

I successfully installed your older W3D Importer Version 0.11 add-on, but I cannot install this newer add-on, nor do I know how I'm supposed to install it after getting the files from GitHub.

You just download the github source ("Download as zip") and then rename it to "W3D_importer.zip", then you can install it via the userpreferences of blender. I should maybe add an install instruction :p

Instructions could go into the GitHub readme?

I'm hoping that you add export and import/export support for animations and w3d material settings. It would be fantastic if Blender could be used entirely for the creation of 3d models for The Battle for Middle-earth, instead of Autodesk 3DS Max 8.

Thank you for the work so far. =D
