Jeez. I thought it was just shooting generic, overly bump-mapped, and (either) horribly strong or horribly weak enemies.
I'd rather play Bad Day LA.
The hand has five fingers. Capable and strong. Able to both create and destroy

Gotta admite tho the enemys do become invincable near enough on legendary.
Its like 1 or 2 shots from them your shilds down and your dead, 30 shots from u on an elite there shilds are down and another 20 and there dead lol.
And if your playing levels where u simply have "no" damn cover to fire from then u may aswell dig your own grave.
Whats even more annoying is if you play coop on that diffecaulty only 1 of u need to die and then u both have to start from last checkpoint so u basicly have to make sure your team mate is damn good at the game as well. So to sum it up it does get a lil too damn hard but i guess they did say its practiclly suicide lol.
Normal and hard is all you need.
And easy is funny as your team can do all the work and not die. (thos marines are hardcore) lol

Only in the eyes of console players... a whole lot of die hard PC fans hated Halo... my self included. I'll recognize it was the best FPS on consol, and that its good if you compare it to any games that genuinly suck, but its total crap if you compare it to the PC FPS games that were available at the same time it was released. Its grafics have been 2 years out of date from the very begining, and each new game in the serries clings to the tradition of staying behind the PC bell curve... but yeah... Halo3 will rock the consol world. I just couldn't give a shit console "next generation" grafix are old news for PC players with good systems. Crysis is on a whole other level and could even be out alot sooner at this rate, and its a PC game that will put my hardware to work. DX10 ftw.dude halo 3 will be great, 4 player coop, over system link and live, something that many fps's are missing.

Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

Vista Ultimate (maybe not the best choice but I don't care)
E6750 Core Duo
2GB RAM from Corsair
Asus 8800GTS640MB (let's get som DX10^^)
250GB HDD
P-35 Platinum ( there are quite many different opinions about this Mainbord around, so I don't know yet)
from what I know so far it will rock^^

My FIRM advice is this... Do not go get a Vista disk and UPDATE your old system BUT if you are building or buying a NEW computer with bleeding edge hardware make sure you use Vista.
I am now about to begin bitching about people bitching.
---------------------
I'm also running Vista Ultimate and I'm very happy with it. 99% of everyone who has ever bitched about Vista has never used it, or they tried to use it on an older computer that shouldn't have had it loaded. Though, I will say with a 8800 video card (welcome to the DX10 club ) you need to be very proactive about updating your video drivers. The new ones are released from Nvidia about once a month, and on one occasions I had to browse 3rd party sites to dig up a beta driver to fix DX10 isseus... but thats expected from any software/hardware that is so early in the life cycle. Vista is a simply awsome OS if your willing to work a little to enjoy some of the advantages.
AND it is FAR more backwards compatable than any OS made before. On occasion you have to go get a VB6 support file, but they are out there, and free to DL, and every now and then you run into games that refuse to install ebcause of an OS conflict, but in these cases you can copy the CD to your HD and use an MSI editor to remove the OS checks from the MSI file and magicly they will install AND play just fine. (Farenheit was the only game I had to do this to, and instead of hand editing the MSI I just found a pre-edited one on a forum)
and to the inevitable Vista bitching...
"But I don't have to do any of that for my XP system!!"- I have to respond... "You don't have to play with DX10 or bleeding edge hardware either!". If you want the newest fastest toys you have to work a little to use them. Its called the bleeding edge for a reason... when its that sharp your going to cut yourself while your learning... if you have any skill you'll only get a scratch and then you'll know better and get it right. If your hardware is older and starting to get a little out of date, and your the type who can wait a coulpe years to watch a movie or play a game, go ahead and wait it out. But I want the new toys now and I'm willing to start learning now. This was also very true with windows XP. Infact, every single complaint I've heard yet about Vista was also true about XP when it came out. People seam to forget that just 6 years ago XP was the bleeding edge.
"It uses too much resources"-but its faster, Just like XP uses more system than Win2000 but is faster. Why don't you use DOS on your PC? It uses almost no system resources!... There are some great games that run on DOS, and I'm sure with your new Duel Core you'll get great FPS in Doom2 or Quake1.
"They don't support my hardware! My printer doen't have Vista drivers!"- Miscrosoft doesn't make the drivers, so don't blame Vista, thats just ignorant. Instead you need to as your printer manufacturer why the fuck they are too lame to make a Vista driver? For that matter, ask them why they don't make a damned universal driver set the way the video card companies have. Before you bitch, check who is to blame. Before I baught a printer I checked to make sure they had good drivers and Vista support. I don't have any driver problems.
"It has to many driver updates for my hardware"-but atleast there are updates, old OSes don't get those, its called the software life cycle, its not a new idea. and an aditional btw for that one, driver updates are a very good thing, in most cases they improve system performance, so lets edit that bitching "My Vista system keeps getting faster and more stable, I hate it!!"...
"MS should have released all these changes to XP instead, they just want more money!"-but they didn't, get over it. They chose to release a new OS instead of another service pack for XP, they're a buisness, they exsist to make money, you shouldn't act like that a bad thing, you do the same thing every day you go to work... you're just there for the money. If they stopped paying you would you still show for work up every day???
"I just don't like the changes!"-Are you expecting me to give a shit? Vista will not go away just because you refused to use it for childish reasons. But XP is going to go away no matter how long you cling to it like a child with seperation issues. No matter what, you will have to learn to use Vista. Why should you put off learning something new? especialy if you will have to use it eventualy. Do you think your employer is going to let you keep your work station on XP because you like it?? Just a news flash for you, (USA)DoD has already mandated that 100% of thier networked XP system need to be updated to Vista because Vista is so much more secure. How long do you think it will take for corperations to do the same? Personaly, I'd rather learn Vista at home now, than find out I can't get a job because I don't know it.
------------------------
And now some DX10 notes... it is MUCH more powerful than DX9. But, its also brand new and only one game (that I know of) has even created a patch to support it. Starting this fall all the big budget releases will also use it, but none of those are out yet. So, for the time being take any complaints you hear about DX10 with a grain of salt because the people bitching are basing all of that off of ONE game and ONE card (8800 serries). Until we have more DX10 games and cards it would be wise to restrain the urge to bitch.
Now, about that game... Company of Heros. CoH is the only game I know of thats been updated to use DX10... and it looks killer good, though there have been some bumps along the way. The initial 1.7 version was extreamly unstable under DX10 and had atrotious frame rates (15fps), even on a 8800GTX... but the 1.71 patch fixed the frame rate (39fps), yes, its slower than DX9, but when DX10 is enabled it more than doubles the number of shadows, adds additional effects to the shadows, and also supports multiple instance draq capabilities so the game can add thousands of blades of grass and other simple fx without slowing down the game at all. So, yeah, you get a slightly lower frame rate with DX10... its actual about 3times faster than DX9 because you've quadroupled the texture density, and more than trippled all the fx and even the pollies (by adding all the simple objects). It also uses video ram more efficently allowing for textures of 4x as much detail to be loaded in the same memory area... CoH uses this feature if you enable Super High detail dextures and DX10 at the same time. There are some bugs, but until CoH gets aditional patches, or until more DX10 games come out we just won't know what parts are causing it.
But I do know that a game that was already killer good looking looks just fucking increadible with DX10 enabled... I have very high expectations for the future driver updates and game patches. And once the next generation games start comming out this fall we should see some increadible gaming.
Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.
