what is your addiction?

my personal addictions would go something like this.
1. Internet and Computer. i personally feel that i don't do as much on the computer as i did when i first got into it, but i can't go many days without some small updates. this might have something with my study where i already do alot of computering compared to the time when i was more active, where i was studying generic high-school stuff.
when i'm on the pc i don't really need to do anything specific, its mostly surfing the forums and talk to people on msn. sometimes i sit down in photoshop and draw or make some graphical stuff, sometimes i sit down in 3ds or maya to do some schoolwork there. and a rare time i might start up a game that brings acceptable entertainment like cnc3 or 2142, but thats pretty damn rare these days.
2. sugar and E-numbers. i don't really work very well if i know i don't have any sweets to nibble on when the brain starts grinding to a halt. this is my coffee drug most likely, since i don't drink coffee i need to find energy in some other direction. anything goes here really, ice-cream, bagged candy, sometimes chocolate but i try to avoid it as it goes down too quickly compared to other elements.
3. music. especially when driving long distances. if i don't have music when i am to drive for 4.5 hours its a death sentence to me. alot of noisy music in my lists, mostly to avoid falling asleep when driving.
thats prolly a good enough list to start with, theres probably more stuff that i'm addicted to, but those are the ones i personally am aware over.
things i'm glad i'm not addicted to: alcohol, coffee, drugs generally, RELIGION (don't go there too much, this is a addiction-thread, not a religious-addiction-thread )

As for anything else, I wouldn't really say I had one. I could easily live without the internet if I wasn't at uni and didn't need it for my course. Hell, a bit of peace and quiet away from you lot? My idea of heaven, that is.

I'm also obsessed with music, I don't have a cd player (not enough room or sockets) and so I play all my cd's on my pc. Thus, my life revolves around my pc. Without it I am a shadow of a human, a shattered soulless husk, a black hole of despair. You get the idea.
I also need to have my guitars near by... I go insane without pressing my fingers onto thin wires... I'm slightly addicted to that sweet sweet pain. I enjoy cutting myself with broken glass.
I like my sugar too, like duke, I like to have something to devour whilst reading webcomics, which I'm also addicted to. The sugar is good, I get hyperactive on occasion and run around screaming.
Uh, other than that, there's Heroin, sodomy, murder and procrastination... I spend a lot of time dreaming about feeding my terrible lust for virgin flesh. I generally combine the former three in long nights in which I break numerous moral rules, ending it by mulling over my existence as the dregs of society.
The screaming makes me happy, when others suffer my suffering seems reduced. My bleak existence seems somewhat less bleak.
Um... Need to fix me a cup of coffee...
Ahhh!
This is why I drink it... It keeps the evil locked up 'till the next cup!

- Internet
- Food and drink
- Time alone
Although all the natural functions fall into those categories...
i would have to disagree that 'time alone' and 'internet' falls under natural functions. but yes its hard to get addicted to natural functions although one can probably name a few
As for anything else, I wouldn't really say I had one. I could easily live without the internet if I wasn't at uni and didn't need it for my course. Hell, a bit of peace and quiet away from you lot? My idea of heaven, that is.
no internet for a month then , observe your fingers twitching for that mouse.
time alone and some peace & quiet are also quite important to me, but thats mostly because i don't like socialising with large groups of people, so that i would save for the "what is your phobia or mental deviancy" thread
cal: Coffee-dude. music, pc, guitars, sugar, more coffee for the survival of mankind . sums it up nicely.

1. Internet - never had a day for the last 5 years without using the internet
2. gaming - sometimes can play 12 hours straight on games for multiple days at a time
3. alcohol - don't drink every day but when i do drink i won't stop
4. soft drinks - recent addiction, dislike them really but i can't seem to stop drinking them atm
5. music - can listen to music for hours and usually a majority of my day is spent with music in the background
6. Nicotine - i'd say i'm a typical smoker. I smoke when i feel down, then sometimes have like a 5 week break then start smoking again out of boredom. Every week "i'm quitting" never happens long enough though.
Those i am no longer addicted too
1. Cannabis - 2 years of addiction, took a bad paranoid episode and some weird few months of depression to realise i needed to stop
Addictions are weird. Some are chemical addictions, as in the changes in serotine (spelling?) and dophine (spelling?) others are merely just psychology built from habit.

And I do pray to God that Calamity is joking with that last paragraph. o_0
And I wouldn't care, Duke. Sure I'd be hacked off without the PC full stop but no internet wouldnt bother me. I'd just play more Oblivion

Actually those are just normal neurotransmitter substances.
I think....
For me: Internet, cigars, alcohol, driving

3. girls-of course...im suprised no one else has actually specified this.....apart from Calamity jones "lust for virgin flesh" i like my fill of pleasure from girls
4.internet/gaming etc- when none of the above are avaliable...this is the best thing...relaxing and entertaining. (and doesnt involve cleaning up after yourself............ .....if you get what i mean )

Strange, when I made it it lasted over half an hour. But possibly it may not have been just laughing gas. I made it by accident .1. Laughing gas-its not actually meant to be addictive, but i enjoy it so much, i feel as though im addicted to it. shame the effect lasts for only about 1 minute.

i bet it has something with the majority of geeks on these forums, and sex usually doesnt work as a topic for geeks3. girls-of course...im suprised no one else has actually specified this.....apart from Calamity jones "lust for virgin flesh" :lol:i like my fill of pleasure from girls
and i wonder if Cals little note about virgin flesh is more in a culinary direction than a sexual one, the 40k mod members are known to think in other lines than normal horny people
also, on the topic of laughing gas, "Automotive nitrous available to the public often has 10% sulphuric compounds added to prevent recreational use. Inhalation of these compounds can be fatal.", so be careful with that stuff.

I think it was laughing gas. I wouldn't know why else I would keep laughing, unless there is another gas that works like that. I don't remember it exactly to be honest, it happened quite some years ago. Possibly a taste, possibly a voice change, I'm not sure to be honest. I inhaled the gas and, since the door was closed, it was in the air for quite some time. But whatever it exactly was, it's a good memory now.
I think it might have been the LSD, Heroin and Crack more than gas inhalation.

I don't use either of them. I'm pretty sure they are too complex to be synthesized by shampoos and soap. If it really was either of those though, I think I would have noticed.I think it might have been the LSD, Heroin and Crack more than gas inhalation.I think it was laughing gas.
