Just thought I might bring to the attention of the high and mighties that there is in fact no delete your own post function for standard members. I was wondering if that could be change, tis the one thing that really bites about being demoted. was probebly the most usefull thing about having a rank.
thanks in advance for you time

Becoming a normal member is free for all, there are no costs and no restrictions aside from the request that you abide the forum guidelines.
The majority of member won't abuse their ability to delete their posts, but there will be some who will.
Sadly, the result is that we have to put a limit on the usergroup anyone can get into. Not the way we'd like to have it, but there is little choice.

You won't restrict guest posting because there are possibly some guests who will abuse it, but you will restrict the abilities of members because there are possibly some members who will?
Fucking hypocrites. Quit biting the carrot at both fucking ends.

It's not about one and the same carrot Paradox. It's about a carrot and an apple. Two things quite different from eachother.Sorry Solinx but that's bollocks.

Allowing people to post without requirements is quite another thing from restricting people in their abilities to delete their messages.
Both can be abused, but the benefits and effects are quite different.

And as far as many members are concerned, the benefits would outweigh the costs in that there are always those occasions when the forum or the internet goes slow, or you realise your message prolly wasn't such a good idea.
I see absolutely no reason whatsoever why members should not be allowed to delete their posts. What sort of sad-act would actually go out of their way to delete a post 'to make someone look silly'? I don't see how. I can actually see some use for it. Indeed, editing a post to be empty makes the poster look silly. Therefore, nobody wins, everybody loses.
Statement retraction is not something you should stop. Freedom of speech? How's about some freedom NOT to speak too?

That way long-time members will be able to delete their posts, but newer members won't be able to.

When a person edits a post, you can notice that the post was edited (unless the person has admin powers or global moderation powers, I think). That doesn't happen when you delete a post.
@Elvenlord: The closest thing to the senior member group that you suggested is called Project Team and they can delete their posts.

Whoo, fuck-a-doodle-do, the sky's gonna fall in just 'cuz of that... Jesus Christ man, a five-year-old could prolly formulate a better counterargument. Assuming there actually was a good counterargument...When a person edits a post, you can notice that the post was edited (unless the person has admin powers or global moderation powers, I think). He means a postcount-related ranking.@Elvenlord: The closest thing to the senior member group that you suggested is called Project Team and they can delete their posts.
Why not simply stop validating members from deleting? Regular members shouldn't be denied the ability. I see absolutely no reason whatsoever why regular members are not allowed to delete their posts.
In truth, I actually oppose the 'edited by' line for one's own post. There's been a million times when I realise I have typo'd after the fact and it makes me look a dickhead going back and changing it. But I'm not making my mouth about that because I don't want to be any more difficult than I have to be.
Although I genuinely see no reason why you must be so difficult apart from this lovely lovely vendetta you have.

There are new members who do cause trouble. There have been some I'd certainly not be surprised to have seen removing all their posts if they could have. Mostly these are the rude, usually young, newbies who get tucked out by the community pretty much right at the start. Sad thing there are people like that, but there's little we can do about that.
That's why I'll go no further than 50 posts. That gives the majority of active members the ability to delete their posts, while it keeps the spammy rude newbies from deleting their posts after they get tucked out by the community.
Could you stop trying to bait him? Thank you. Banshee isn't the only one opposed to the idea of allowing every member to delete their messages.Although I genuinely see no reason why you must be so difficult apart from this lovely lovely vendetta you have.

post 1 : yes you right post 2 cool post 3 Oh my God... ETC
after that:

just saying that it would be better to put it up to a count wich couldnt be achived in one day? like 75?
