Now, I doubt the realism of the,"whether it be within range of archers or not," statement, but I feel it could represent both the men of Dale's cultural ties to archery (theoretically, of course) and a modern military tactic-suppresion fire.
I feel this could add a bit of strategy to the game, as you wouldn't want to the send your group of carefully trained-and-nurtured Orcs into a hail of arrows.
That is, unless you want to go with some Gaolers and Castellans 300-esque
Cheers, and good luck on further progress,
-mike
*by this, I mean an Area of Effect about the general size-if not shape-of the "Summon Elven Allies" power in the vanilla Edition.

I have done some modding, mainly data files and simple .bmp's for TalonSoft's Great Battles ACW and Nappy War series etc., MeTW1 Middle Earth (got the mos to work good in campaign form and tactical form by simple data file corrections and debugging etc.), etc.
First read Tolkien in the late 1960's while in highschool, and have been in touch with Middle-earth ever since, but consequently somewhat out-of-touch with the RW at times, and at times by choice.
Anyway, great work and fun times you all have made and I enjoy seeing the sharing of skins and ideas between modders of different mods, as it gives a feeling of frienliness and teamwork etc. Also, good to learn some modding tweaks here and there, even though time is limited.
I am similar of mind to Zimoo (sp?), in that I enjoy Tolkien's version of ME rather more so than Jackson's, but the movies were great and I don't have too much of a gripe with *some* (a little bit) of plate armor, but JRR and Christopher Tolkien stated that there were not any great helms or other helms that fully enclosed the face, and that only he Dwarves of the 1st Age used those, and others such as Turin that had a helm with a face mask made by the Dwarves.
I think there is a ME 'historical thread' here in these forums, so I might go there.
My idea for abilities/powers is to not make them too strong or far-fetched and bizzar. Magic was more subtle in ME, working on the mind and psyche rather than being overpowering battlefield weapons. A few Fireballs, Lighting Bolts, Wizard and Light Blasts, debuffing powers, some weather effects, some industry effects, healing, etc. are about it IMHO. Lots of Fear from the evil ones floating about though. (BTW, love the buildable Dol Guldur walls in SEE4 and the mod's mechanics such as smaller build area circles, less spam rushes, very tough walls and buildings, AND the Evil Healing Statue giving also armor and attack boosts as well as a discount on infantry units, etc.)
**For Dale I would simply make the BFME2 Arrow barrage only for Dale and the Elves, with Dale's being less powerful and smaller in area and perhaps both Dale's and the Elves usable against aerial targets if possible. Just my OP and preferences.**
Something I don't like about the vanilla games is all the pike units, when in raelity spears seem to would have been more appropriate for Tolkien's RW setting of the Dark Ages. Spaears and shields; who ever read of Dwarves with pikes anyway in Tolkien's writings!??!
Anyway, looking forward to all of you all's good and interesting mods, and am eagerly awaiting Rhovanion Alliance, the Last Alliance, the 4 Ages, Wars of Arda, Wars of the Silmarillion, etc. to be completed. SEE4 is very good and so is Gothmog the Orcs' Shadows of Evil, and the rest.
Why EA didn't put Arnor in RotWK makes me wonder concerning their marketting methods/reasoning. I like the mods with the blended BFME1 and BFME2 build mechanics, and the maps Assault on Carn Dum and Gates of Ered Luin are very shapr, but the AI is not too good or the maps are only for MP.
Thanx for all the mods and tutorials., Chris
PS: BTW, I forgot to add "The Sky has Fallen". Large trees do that too, I know.

Something like this could work. Although I wouldn't mind seeing the name: Heir of the Bowman; it's more fitting.2. Grandson of Bard the Bowman- 2 power points
Again, similar to Anduril ability. I don't know if Brand will have a weapon toggle, but this works only on his Bow damage. Defense is permanently increased by 25%
Personal abilities (such as Anduril and Gandalf the White) should only be used very sparingly, otherwise they become too overrated, catch my drift? Although (seeing as Anduril and Gandalf the White are gone) maybe Grandson of Bard the Bowman could be made into one, seeing as there aren't many other places you could put it that would fit.I was thinking of a power for the most important hero in each faction and at the moment, we are discussing Erebor and Dale so I thought they cuold use something. It was just an idea.
I like this one for Dale (makes me wish I had thought of it sooner to put it on my list *hits head on wall*).Hmm...for Dale, I'd imagine, (for possibly a 2nd Tier power) something along the lines of, "bombard," for lack of a better name. What I mean, is, you could select an AoE* anywhere within your vision limits on the field, whether it be within range of archers or not, and for, say, 25-30 seconds, that area would be shot to, essentially, cack.

But this power would be completely useless if your playing a match where there are no allied Dwarves/Dale.I was thinking of a power for the most important hero in each faction and at the moment, we are discussing Erebor and Dale so I thought they cuold use something. It was just an idea. I really would like to see a power that summons Dain to fight next to Brand and defend his dead body, like at the Battle of Dale.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

Instantly creating a hero out of nowhere after a brand dies is out of place but its just a game
So that would be different than any other summon.. how? I'll drop it because Nertea said it won't happen, but it would be just like any other summon except that it's a hero. All other summons just create units out of nowhere too.
