EDIT: Moved into a thread of it's own from "Translations..." /Naz

If there is a german translation, i'd really love to see movie-like voices for all the heroes who haven't got original voices in the game. I could record these, but like Yodaman, I have no idea how to put them into a mod ^^ (Sul might already have some of them, Mouth of Sauron and the Witch King were in the Elvenstar Mod)
I could also help with a German translation if you want.

The easiest but most strenuous parts will always be the rewriting of the strings. But if you wanna check out extra voice tracks first look for the audio files that come with SEE. Then go look for the equivalents in the german movies. All other audio is already in the game in several languages. What is really missing is for example voices for Celeborn. I think he uses the same ones as Thranduil right now.

As for adding original voices for the heroes that had no original actor to speak them (or original subbing voice actor to translate them for other languages), just forget about it. That's really to much of a hustle. Maybe it could be a final touch, but that has not been decided yet.

Putting voices in is no problem at my end. Those players who want to use another language than english for the bonus voices and the standard strings will have to download an additional language pack and install it by hand. Once it is finished that is.

Once again, feel free to check up on the voices or the strings, but i am afraid i will not yet be able to help with any of those (when it comes to putting them ingame at least) until after we have finished with the bulk of modifications we have planned. There simply is not much time left for that. We are cramming as much as possible in as little time as possible already. Hopefully we can relax a bit when 4.x has seen the light of day. :p

Oh well, I already thought it would be too much work... but that Gimli voice is just so ANNOYING :p

Celeborn only had two or three lines even in the Extended Edition if I remember correctly, so making a complete soundbank for him will be hard anyways... Some Mods use voices from other films for him (Arthus from First Knight, for example), but I think that pretty much ruins any flavor.

well...

in the game, only Gandalf and Saruman uses their movie-actors voice :) (and maybe the hobbits, but I doubt Merry and Pippin)
so... ruin what flavor? ;)

I think there are more actually... Sure sure which though.

I say:
- Find someone that would take it upon himself to recod as much useable audio (with prefeably famous phraces such as Ewoyn's "I'm no man"... and WK's "Don't come betwen the Nazgul and his prey"), from the movies as possible and I promise to code it in. Sûl has pretty much gotten the major workload right now, and when messing in the same files I end up having to merge them which is quite hard from time to time. So to be "more efficient" I could spent time doing stuff like that instead, and our work wouldn't collide and we'd get more done ;)

SO: would anyone or even some of you guys out there, like to help with this, I'd appreciate it, and I'd use it for Beta V =)

Hehe well I think you have enough on your hands for SEE, don't you? :)

But sure, anyone who really would like to help with this, go ahead. Just remember:
1) "Wave" file
2) GOOD quality, no noisy stuff
3) Resonable file size (most are 100-400 Kb)

;)

hmm...have you considered asking people to DO the voices themselves? Sometimes when you can't get stuff from the movies, you may ened to do that. then, once somebody records their voice, it's only a matter of converting the file type and stickin it under the correct voiceover slot.

....I can do a better Gothmog than EA could. =P

Ehm, pardon, but if we can't get the voices from the movies, why vould I wanna use the voices of ordinary everyday people? No offence - but why? ;)

I might as well keep the EA voices in that case. If I'm gonna do this hassle, I want genuine voices or nothing :)

but have you ever asked sombody if they can do that aprticular voice?...and newer units like goblin pikes and stuff don't have to be movie-ish at all.

Looks like this has grown into a fullblown discussion overnight! ;)

Regarding the soundfiles: It should be a wav file, stereo, if possible, good quality (no non movie noize), AND it should also have a few seconds at the start and at the end so the length, fading etc can be readjusted WITHOUT killing or crippling the voices. :)

If it's the list from last year, then they are mostly unusable, or at least they are not exactly at my aimed at benchmark.

I've known them for a LONG time. I tried to get them in the EM mod, but Homer85 wants to do original voices, at least of EM's work, not someone elses.

I listened to ONE once and went "Bah!" and deleted the file. :p

EDIT: Thanks! for the compliment, Naz!
