OLD POST BELOW
¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SO now it's official, it not only CAN be done, but it can also look ASTONISHING!!! :p

May I present to you, a screen from the Russian mod Age of Men this BEAUTIFUL screen of Argonath :p
Posted Image

THIS i DEFENITELY want for SEE! It's just that the team still needs a MAPPER that can edit all maps into this. (Bring down the camera angle + ad the textures to the dead black sky). There are like 20 unused sky textures by EA that they just never used. Let's find that mapper and DO THIS! :p :p

This would defenitely the the "sugar on top" :D

EDIT: Topic renamed Oct 2007 =)

This would definitely be an awesome addition! But how would you control the camera tilt angle? My suggestion is held down mouse wheel to rotate like normal, held down mouse wheel + right mouse button for tilt.

Looks very nice. I would do it except their is one little problem.
I dont know a thing about mapping.
Seriously though, if their was something I could do to contribute to this mod you know I would. Keep up the good work!

I tried adding something like that once.... but, it didn't look anything like it :p ;) Anyways, I'm probably the only one not to exited about this.... It's cool and all, but I'd rather play with the standard view... it might get tricky to control the units sometimes :p

I agree with Lauri, imo the standard view is great view for RTS like BFME2 and with angle like that it might get annoying whne you order your units.

But if the skyboxes are brought into SEE it will be awesome.

In Four Ages the view thing was nicely done. Naz, do you think that if skyboxes are put in the view system would work something like in Four Ages ? Have to explain it a bit if you havent tried it though :p

Using scripted commands, a lot of stuff is possible.
We'll do it differently than four ages though. Possibly. I haven't check if they also used a scripted command with their 'pan'-special power. But it's gonna be something like that. And the script system is good for that. I have prove already, using special powers to trigger a scripted music tracklist change.

I don't think it is too hard to do. Only getting an idea how to do it is difficult and time consuming.

They did a good job with the panning. Only the pan button is among the spell power buttons on the left side, which i don't like. I will definitely try to make a shortcut for a key. If i only new how to reference the mouse buttons and mouse wheel, i'd be an even happier man!
