but the elves need those Amroth knights. They are the ones who have to fill those gaps which units like the mirkwood scouts make.

those mirkwood scouts aren't the strongest units. They are fast but weak and have no armour. They are easily killed with uruks in that block formation. In the beginning you need those amroth knights to fill the gaps of strength and armour. they are strong and powerfull. That's what i mean

That's something I'll have to try out. I rarely use cavalry when I'm able to play - I just stick to infantry. Ah yeah, something that relates to this...yeah, that's why Celeglin included two types of cavalry (although personally I wouldn't have minded another infantry unit, since cavalry is more Rohan's thing...anyway). Each balances out the other, and obviously both of them work perfectly in game. :p

Yeah, you should, the knights are invaluable, as well as the riders. The knights can last a long time agaisnt even the worst odds(except vs. spearmen of course) and the riders are the best raiders in the game.

I think the rivendell stables cost alot. Plus the Light Calvary is the same price cost as Amroth's Knights.

I have not got any strategy. Usally when I play the computer I build alot of orchards, and flets for my castle. I just think it could be more balanced like the Lorien barracks could cost 450. It could be just me.

The Lorien Barracks and the Rivendell Stables shouldn't be the first buildings you construct so they shouldn't be cheaper to build, given that their units are a wee bit expensive for the early early-game. That's why the Scouts are so cheap. And besides, all things Elven are expensive because they're more elite than any other faction.

As for the Riders of Rivendell having the same cost as Amroth's Knights, it's because each balances out the other... more-so theoretically.
The Riders are one of the fastest cavalry in the game and have excellent weapons damage compared to normal cavalry, however they have less armour and their trample damage is low. They are your raiders and demolishers (their weapon damage makes them ideal for destroying buildings).
Then you have Amroth's Knights which are the complete opposite: they have lower weapon damage but very high trample damage. Their have more armour but a slower speed. They are primarily used for crushing infantry and covering your retreat, and they do both efficiently. So all in all they would have to be the same price because they balance each other out, like Yin and Yang.

I'm curious-what strategies do ya'll use when playing as Rohan? Myself, I like to recruit several of the early-game heroes (Eomer, Gamling, Hama) and several battalions of Rohirrim, then creep through the map, harassing enemy outposts along the way.
Another thing I've used, is to spam Eorlingas and Yeomen, and then hold the nearest entrance to your castle/camp while training heroes to stabilize that 'holding.'
So, what do you all do?
Cheers,
-mike

I do about the same thing as you, except I only play against AI; no idea if it's effective against human players.
Then again, Rohan hasn't changed that much: they've acquired a new melee unit, a replacement for the Elven Warriors, and a few heroes have been dropped and added (added?). It's still a cavalry based army, just with more flexibility with its infantry. This is all in theory though. :good:

when im the elves id use mirkwood scouts and spearmen of the havens to guard the wall gaps and use hi lvl hero archers to pick of units 1 by 1

my main problem is i always play defensively and never attack until i have a strong force and wipe them out in one sweep and by then im probably overwhelmed or the defenses are very strong but i do focus on good defense too

do ya no whats fun with rohan heroes? if you go against the maximum ammount of easy enemies (bear with me) first they send out crossbowmen but later they stop sending out crossbow men and only infantry keep coming with isenguard you can train your heroes very quickly on em and its fun to watch them obliverate the millions that keep coming with ease hehehehe ;)

If there's one thing that very rarely works with the Elves, it's camping. You'll have to be more...aggressive in your actions when you're playing with the Elves. And one thing that is a must is creeping.

I'll give you a few pointers, unless you've read through this entire thread, in which case don't worry about what I'm saying here. :p Right, the things that are essential in surviving the early game are:

1) Purchasing a strongish force of Mirkwood Scouts. With these guys, don't worry about defending your base as of yet, just send them out on raids and to guard choke points. Sending some to harass your enemy could intimidate them as well, but this is irrelevant.
2) Building lots of orchards and claiming lots of economy plots (don't worry if they might be destroyed, you need that money!).
3) Creeping.
4) This is a maybe, but when you have a stable economy purchase Flets so that you can keep you're base
AND/OR
4) Begin to purchase Spearmen of the Havens, or cavalry, as you can see from the discussion up above.

This should keep you alive. If it doesn't, then you're just plain crap. :p Kidding.

Edit: Also, heroes aren't really the way to go, at least until you have a strongish economy. Once you've got it, send Haldir out to help your Scouts, then maybe save up for a good hero (Glorfindel, Elrond, Thranduil, Legolas - not Galadriel, she costs too much and moves too slowly for early game). :D

thats what i do, i do all that but don't go on raids too much i always build lots of orchards. and camping works for me when i've got a strong economy, which is usualy um idunno, 4 mins in and i've reppelled numerous attacks with hidden scouts and sentinals telling me when there coming in very good spots, halir's my defense master with leadership and legolas is my moving scout, he also picks of some uruks and runs into the wood which is funny
