I have not got any strategy. Usally when I play the computer I build alot of orchards, and flets for my castle. I just think it could be more balanced like the Lorien barracks could cost 450. It could be just me.

As for the Riders of Rivendell having the same cost as Amroth's Knights, it's because each balances out the other... more-so theoretically.
The Riders are one of the fastest cavalry in the game and have excellent weapons damage compared to normal cavalry, however they have less armour and their trample damage is low. They are your raiders and demolishers (their weapon damage makes them ideal for destroying buildings).
Then you have Amroth's Knights which are the complete opposite: they have lower weapon damage but very high trample damage. Their have more armour but a slower speed. They are primarily used for crushing infantry and covering your retreat, and they do both efficiently. So all in all they would have to be the same price because they balance each other out, like Yin and Yang.

Another thing I've used, is to spam Eorlingas and Yeomen, and then hold the nearest entrance to your castle/camp while training heroes to stabilize that 'holding.'
So, what do you all do?
Cheers,

Then again, Rohan hasn't changed that much: they've acquired a new melee unit, a replacement for the Elven Warriors, and a few heroes have been dropped and added (added?). It's still a cavalry based army, just with more flexibility with its infantry. This is all in theory though.

my main problem is i always play defensively and never attack until i have a strong force and wipe them out in one sweep and by then im probably overwhelmed or the defenses are very strong but i do focus on good defense too
do ya no whats fun with rohan heroes? if you go against the maximum ammount of easy enemies (bear with me) first they send out crossbowmen but later they stop sending out crossbow men and only infantry keep coming with isenguard you can train your heroes very quickly on em and its fun to watch them obliverate the millions that keep coming with ease hehehehe

I'll give you a few pointers, unless you've read through this entire thread, in which case don't worry about what I'm saying here. Right, the things that are essential in surviving the early game are:
1) Purchasing a strongish force of Mirkwood Scouts. With these guys, don't worry about defending your base as of yet, just send them out on raids and to guard choke points. Sending some to harass your enemy could intimidate them as well, but this is irrelevant.
2) Building lots of orchards and claiming lots of economy plots (don't worry if they might be destroyed, you need that money!).
3) Creeping.
4) This is a maybe, but when you have a stable economy purchase Flets so that you can keep you're base
AND/OR
4) Begin to purchase Spearmen of the Havens, or cavalry, as you can see from the discussion up above.
This should keep you alive. If it doesn't, then you're just plain crap. Kidding.
Edit: Also, heroes aren't really the way to go, at least until you have a strongish economy. Once you've got it, send Haldir out to help your Scouts, then maybe save up for a good hero (Glorfindel, Elrond, Thranduil, Legolas - not Galadriel, she costs too much and moves too slowly for early game).
