Strider, if you're gonna correct people, a good tip would be to use smileys...

Check this out:

"You don't know much, do you? "
or
"You don't know much, do you?"

At least I read the second one as an offence, a minor one, but still...
The first one reads more "softly" with a gentle tone, cause of the smiley... *tip*
This way we might get less fights and missunderstandings

Now, if you had used a smiley on this one, it would not sound so harsh. This way i am not sure if you are offending and/or feel offended, or if you were just making a point. It is really easy to miscommunicate.

I also find Naz's post not an overreaction. He was definitely making a polite point. No blowing out of proportion, just pointing out that your posts can be taken in several ways. Maybe you like not to be definite or be slightly offending. I don't know you. But i assume (giving you the benefit of the doubt) that you are a likable guy.

This is about netiquette. Using common 'rules' of interaction to avoid misunderstandings. You don't have to bow to them (noone does in every way), but paying at least lip service would make things easier for everyone.

Just some advice.

(And as you can see, i have used a smiley to denote that i don't think this is a serious situation in any way. But noteworthy still. No harm done. )

Naz did not blow it out of proportion, Lauri did. I commented Lauri does not know that much about Middle earth and he takes it that Im calling him stupid. I most definetly do no think Lauri is stupid. I cant model or skin stuff in video games, he can.

I always use fast reply (using it now) and I use lots of smily's :0 :/ ;0 etc. All you have to do is memorize the code stuff (that's also why I use a lot and , they're easiest to type).

Yeah, those are pretty good...

And trust me, smileys make it all better...that and using periods instead of exclimation points. Then you're still getting your point across, without sounding like you're freaking out.

I am pretty accustomed to using smilies the old way, like before the internet was so accessible. (Mailbox servers and oldschool messageboards anyone? ) At that time, i had a 2400 modem of which i can still mimic the connect sound. Hardly anything but text files could be transferred on them in a reasonable time. If anyone complains today about the connection, then it is usually because they can't play games online. The only 'online' games i ever played 20 years ago were turn based strategy games like VGA Planets. Does anyone remember the boardgame 'Diplomacy'?

I'm remeniscing again. I always love a good smilie. ;grin:

When replying to a pm or a post, DO NOT respond like this:

^That was a mixture of all lowercases, an incomplete response, and no smiley's. It does not help the reciever at all. Btw, I just randomly made up that phrase...So it doesn't really mean anything to anyone...

In the internet and other written communication, you can't use facial expressions or intonation to make your intents clear, which often causes miscommunication. Therefore smilies like have a good purpose. It's not for nothing they are often called "emoticons"

Just stopping by..... liking the mod, seems like someone took the advice to lower build times, but maybe it's just my head.

And yeah, this thread makes nazgul look kinda... whiny... And no, I will not use smileys.

Still trying to figure out how to mod your mod, I was delayed by unfortunate circumstances but I shall continue now! Wish me luck.
