A question of curiousity: How long does it take the team to, say, animate a model? Or skin a model? They're so finely done, I'd like to know your work schedules. :p

seeing the fact that i am very lazy and my motivation is somehow low lately then animating can take ages :) otherwise one unit is like 2 - 3 days time to time animating or one day of intensive work. through it ussually doesnt work that way normaly i have at least 2 - 3 main projects and several small things that i am working on.

Modeling a unit takes me ~1 hour tops, unwrapping it another hour and skinning it takes around 2 hours for a 256, 4 hours for a 512 and 4-10 for a 1024.
Modeling a building is also around an hour, unwrapping it takes up to 3 (ugh), skinning up to 12 (depends on how many textures).

So for me, 3-15 hours for a unit, and maybe 20 for a building. Of course, you have to take into account that some units have multiple textures, there are heavy armour skins... then rigging... etc. Then tweaking of stuff...

most models (say most of the harad buildings) take about an hour to get the basic shape and then maybe another 2 hours of refining and tweaking (im not as perfect as nertea 1st time round) but building are quite strait forward imo.

scratch modeling a unit like ghafrid takes me quite a long time since I tend to take a long time doing little tweaks and adjustments, but probably 5-6 hours completely, though normally in a few sittings.

Animating can vary loads, to do an idle for a building normally takes me about 2 hours though.

it really depends on how motivated i am :)

Why do you want another trailer. Just be patient. If they want to release one they will. Be satisfied with new stuff every Sunday (lol can't wait for the next one).

If there is gonna be another trailer, I hope some of the new units are going to be revealed :spam: or just shown in game. I definitely want more Harad and Isengard =D

Are any big updates planned for a release? Or is the weekly Sneak Peek just an easier way to update? (Either way, I'm happy :p) And, will the Sneak-Peak released units/buildings be added to their mini-faction/main faction pages? I'd love to read some of the info Bard has written =D

By the way, when is the release date?

...

Sorry, couldn't resist

You (Dain) said before that it was sometimes difficult to choose what to reveal to the public for updates. How much "extra" work is done that you have to show us, meaning, what files do you have secretly hidden on your computer?[/not being nosy]

So that makes 42? lol.
That's basically what the weekend does for me-Bungie's updates on Friday, RA's on Sunday! w00t!
To get on topic...In a percentage'd guess, how far along would you say RA is at in terms of progress? From what I've seen, I'd say about 56%, meaning a release date of around Christmas. But I've always been a bit optimistic :p
Cheers,
-mike

We like to do the full updates when everything has been finalized - this, including buildings takes quite a while. So we do that when we can. Otherwise Sneak Peeks are a faster way of showing off individual units from anywhere. This way nobody has to wait for ages and ages to see anything from the Dwarves or other such factions that won't be full update ready for quite a while

First off, I'd like to say that this is easily the best mod I've seen for any bfme game yet (well, four ages was good, mainly because I'm obssessed with the silmarillion  ).
Now, let the interrogation begin :spam:

1. Will the other faction/minifaction sections of the site be updated so that we can get info on all factions?

2. Will there be new sorts of plots on the map other than like outposts, camps, settlements, etc.?

3. Will the thirrad actually be able to climb trees as implied in the description :p ?

4. Will evenstar/one ring points values be changed?

5. So far, do think thatmost factions are balanced, or does a lot of work have to be done in that department?

6. Will individual units' appearances change with veterancy?

Thats all I got for now.

Thank you, we do try to please.

1. Once they're done

2. Just the minifaction settlements

3. Unfortunately not, unless you count being able to garrison in Talans and climb walls

4. Most of the power trees are getting a complete revamp, so probably

5. We haven't even started...

6. Mostly no. Some ideas were kicking around to do that, but it's a LOT of work.
