It's said in the FAQ section of the site that there'll be new camera angles; what's the progress of this?
Cheers,

Well, I've got another question - hopefully this one'll get answered :thumbsupsmiley:
Anyway, could someone tell me what unit/hero this is in the bottom of this screenshot, wearing what appears to be a toga:
I_wonder....jpg
It seems to me that it bears an uncanny resemblance to a GW unit - the Osgiliath Veterans. However, we've seen no mention of them to be included.
I'd appreciatte it if someone could clear this up - they're an awesome unit in that system, and I'd like to see if/how they'd be used.
Cheers,
-mike

that Osgiliath veteran is just another variant of Gondor Captain that Dain created :thumbsupsmiley:

about that new camera angles. it is still under disscusion in staff forums, we need to know all advantages, disadvantages and possible problems that may come with that system before making final decision. but if we are going to use it it will we probably very simillar to the system that SEE and RJ-RotW use.

Another variation of the Gondor Captain based on the GW Osgiliath Veteran miniature.

Cool, that's what I assumed (but as there wasn't a render on the Gondor units' page, I didn't mention it)
Thanks,

I've got a question regarding battle mechanics. I think I've read somewhere you will introduce a dynamic accuracy system for archers, which can then be upgraded through marksmanship. The elvish archers don't have this upgrade though. Am I right in thinking they just don't need it, or will they become worse archers then Gondor's in late-game?

Also, will you be creating a dynamic system for attacking tactics as well? By that I mean, will cavalry still just drop dead if they charge at the rear of a pikeman formation? (I REALLY hated that in the vanilla edition). And when using strong offensive but weak defensive stealth units, such as - presumably - the rangers from Ithilien, will they get a bonus when ambushing the enemy. Because up til now the only advantage (except for your enemy not knowing about your attack, which admittedly can be very effective) you get when ambushing, is maybe one extra volley of arrows before the enemy reaches you, and that was really only worth it when you had A LOT of rangers (which I usually had).

Lastly, will something be done so you can leave your archers at the walls for five seconds without them all getting instantly destroyed by one catapult (damn I hate those things....)?

Thanks,
Elen Naro (can't get the accent right)
Am I Belgian or Flemish? Hmm, me thinks I'll just stick to European...

Catas will be less accurate, yeah. Elves don't have the accuracy upgrade because they're already at something like 95% accuracy, whereas men start in the 70-80s.

The pike stuff you're talking about isn't within the capabilities of the engine, sadly.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

I've noticed in a lot of mods (TEA being one) that for most of the new abilities for heroes don't have the autofire function. Will this be fixed in the RA?

I think that will be in, but I'm not sure...

It's very easy to code and has been implemented for most powers as far as I'm concerned.

In the skirmish menu the factions have a small film sequence, showing some scenes from the natural territories of the 4 factions.
With Mordor it shows the Mt.Doom for example and Edoras with Rohan.
But when you add a 5th faction, or more, they wont have such a small film, because it is hard-coded as far as I know.
So what will you do with the new factions you add, will they stay without these "mini-films"?

these sequences are indeed hardcoded for all I know, so I'm afraid there's not much we can do in this situation

We'll definitley give ambush formation a boost if it's underperforming. Note also, that in RA, units stay stealthed even while firing. An enemy has to get up close to find them.

Now THAT's more like it! That was exactly something of the kind I meant. It doesn't make ambushing units invincible or anything, but being caught of guard and then having to seek for the attackers... That should make an intrigueing feature. It seems that the more you find out about this mod, the more you find yourself longing for that sneak peek every sunday night (I live in Europe, so usually I'll have to wait til Monday).

well, technically, you can see where the arrows come from, but having 5 ranger bats spawned around in a forest... hohoho!

We also added a little eye-candy thing where the Ithilien rangers put their hood up in ambush formation.

Coupled with that, and new sword anims for them, expect the Ithilien rangers do be a much more useful and powerful unit.
