Men - preupgraded weapons are dull grey, when upgraded they turn into a lighter shade of grey
Elves - preupgraded weapons are light grey, when upgraded they turn silvery white
Dwarves - preupgraded weapons are dark metallic gray, when upgraded they turn silvery grey
Mordor - preupgraded weapons are dark grey with traces of dirt and rust, when upgraded they become a lighter shade of metallic grey
Isengard - preupgraded weapons are black, when upgraded they turn greasy dark grey
Moria - preupgraded weapons are black with traces of dirt and rust, when upgraded they turn greasy black, with all imprefactions removed
Just a suggsetion.

In some cases, armor upgrades for units like Fountain Guards make little sense to me because they would automatically have the best equipment available. The only time we saw large numbers of soldiers get a significant improvement in equipment in the films was the arming on Rohan's peasants at Helm's Deep and possibly the arming of some Wildmen with Isengard blades.
I've always hated the upgrade system in BFME2, and miss the more distinct faction differences of BFME1. The thing I really hated about that game was when they made Elven Warriors work like pikemen. "Well, Rohan needed a pike unit..." No, they didn't! They have the best cavalry in the game...Rohan's counter to cavalry should be Rohirrim.

Oi! I like that much more! Upgrades for faction specific things! Ex. Isengard crossbows SHOULD NOT have fire arrows...It would hurt if they did
indeed. they shouldnt have fire
and yes. the forged blades makes the swords looks like lightsabers..
those effects in game are terrible.. like the black glow on Nazgûl's or the cyan glow in high lvl heroes..

If not, we'll go with the symbol, of some sort =)
(This is all for Beta V though... most likely)

Heroes f.ex who deal fear, you see that already in the palantir, is there any better way to show that people are scared then that they all treble or even run away sometimes...
poison effects show as all the enemies die faster.
This is kind of all I need to say, but it seems way better to me...people do not need to know these things if they don't have the brains to figure it out themselves when they've seen it in game for many years now!

As for the poison, not sure what you're refering to.
On the subject of weapons (slightly off-topic), I just have an idea which is to be honest, quite pooey which may sound stupid, but I was wondering what y'all thoughts were on a system where after say, a number of conflicts or battles or maybe time on a map, a unit's weapons will become weaker until eventually innaffective, unless they are upgraded.
It would add another angle to the gameplay, but I'm guessing the scripting would be anal simply from what I've read. It would certainly give you something to spend the money that seems to be infinite after 20 minutes of gameplay.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

No, I agree... but it looks like Robnkarla can help us with thatI think the forge blades glow makes units look really unrealistic like the banner carrier glow sorry if I sounded mean
But I sorta agree with Strider too...
EDIT: ALl fixed to
- White
- Subtle glow
