Ah yes, very good point Lauri... receiving and asking are two different things. But how about this for example:I'm sure many of you is missing a point here....
I don't have ANYTHING against that, and I doubt many have. If someone wants to contribute to you, don't stop them because you don't want to be hung on the wallYou guys are making it sound like receiving donated models is a bad thing and should not be done...
But comming here and ASKING for models and skins and what-not, that's the issue we're talking about Atleast for big stuff, and especially when you ask someone personally...
I was playing and looking at the mod TEA. Now, there were some things that I really liked in there. Cel gave specific instructions of things that can and cannot be used for other mods. So making sure I understood it clearly, I used both the Rohan Barracks and Eowyn's foot model for my mod, of course making sure to add all the proper credits to it. Do you guys agree with what I did?
I also loved the rohirrim skins Nertea made for TEA. Now I noticed that Cel said you can't use them (because they weren't his) so I sent a message to Nertea asking if perhaps he could donate them to me. He gladly did. Was that wrong? It's when you want someone else's work it's troubeling... when you aren't approched by the maker..
Also good point, mh_gollum. I meant no offense to RA or other teams, just trying to point something outDain didn't mention anything about RA or teams....
There's nothing wrong with donating models. All we're saying is that people need to starting learning skills, instead of basing "their" mod off other peoples work. Because in the majority of cases, the mod dies once the donations dry up because the "modder" never bothered to persevere with modding.
Btw, Sharing Knowledge =/= Sharing Models, you learn very little if anything from copy and pasting some basic code to make the model usable.
Helping = giving advice and critique. That's what a community does.
