I am a nooblet of modding at the moment, but I am hoping to be a master such as Cannis or AG.

So far I have the .INI editing down. I can make units have different guns, Abilities, and Stats.
One problem I have is making new models and such.
I checked out a tutorial that combines the Rad-Cannon turret with a IFV body using the XCC mixer.
I followed the tutorial as good as possible, and repeated it many times, but never did it correctly.
Could someone tell me if I am a dumbass, or is modding hard when you first start?


If it was hard for anyone who is good now that sucked when they started, please could you help me?

Not exactly the easiest thing to starting off with when learning how to make vxls. Why would you want to join them together anyway?

If you dont have xfire you should get it, it is a good chat program.



I would want to know how to combine turrets with bodies, so that if I make a turret, I can switch it to any tank body of my choosing.

You can add any turret to any tank body you want without the fuss of combining them like that. That is unless you want them fixed in place so they don’t have a turret?

k, do you want fixed turrets that turn with the body or do you want ones that can rotate independently of the body?

If you want it rotating then combining them is pointless doing so will make it fixed. The graphics for a tank is typically made up of six files (body, turret & barrel) three vxl & three hva. If you want too add/replace a turret all you need to do is change the files for the turret/barrel & nothing else.

Here is a basic guide to making vxls maybe it will help.

THANK YOU, I had used a program like this before, but it had not had as much capabilities A.K.A., it sucked.
This one is much better, thanks.

As soon as I am done with my first unit, you will be the first one to see it. ;)

I made a Tank body, Turret, and a Barrel, but how do i connect them and make it viewable with a program like Voxel Viewer?

Download the HVA viewer so you can arrange the parts around with the voxel offset and then you can see them in the voxel viewer

It should be noted that the scale of many turrets puts them too high or too low to work with many of the voxel bodies properly. Also, Cannis and I created a pack of IFV turrets that include the cannon one you want on PixelOps on C-Gen only converted to the correct colour scheme.

SSTG could you help me with the hva builder, because I am not fully sure how I can combine the Three parts of my tank.

Name them ????.vxl, ????barl.vxl and ????tur.vxl (With ???? being the body, ????barl being the barrel and ????tur the turret.) Start the HVA editor and use it to open ????.vxl

You should now see all parts of your tank. Use the section selector and the XYZ buttons to drag the Body Turret and Barrels into their correct positions.
