You haven't specified a mod to build. You need to create a mod, and when running buildmod.bat, put that as the second argument. So, to build the samplemod, you run buildmod.bat samplemod from the command prompt.

Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

Right click the buildmod.bat file, choose create a shortcut, and name it whatever you want. Then right click the shortcut, choose properties, and edit the target to have samplemod at the end of it (put a space in front of it). Then double click the shortcut. Doing that should build the sample mod included with the SDK. If makebig still doesn't work, you probably have not installed all of the required files, or have other issues.

You can also navigate to the proper location with command prompt, but it's a little more difficult (you can use tab completion to help [hit tab after typing the first few letters of a path]). You need to go to the location of your SDK, and type buildmod samplemod to build the sample mod.

All it does is compile the mod into a *.big file based on the mod.xml contents and then you can make skudef file like EA's documentation tells you for making mod available in game browser's (C&c3 control center) Mods section to use the mod.

It should copy the mod *.big into my documents\command & conquer 3 tiberium wars\mods\mod name\ if all went correct, else it encountered compiling error (from mod.xml assets) or you defined wrong mod name (see mods folder under mod sdk folder that you enter right mod name as it is there) to compile

Use a normal text editor and save the file with a .skudef extension.

a .skudef file is a file that tells the game what big files the mod uses and what version of cnc3 the mod runs with.

it's basically a notepad file which you change the extension on manually into .SkuDef

the name should be:

OnlyWar2_1.0.SkuDef

and the contents of the SkuDef file should be:

mod-game 1.7
add-big onlywar2.big

the mod-game 1.7 bit is the current version of cnc3
and the add-big onlywar2.big is the bit that defines what big files the mod uses

Actually it should be "mod-game 1.8" because that is the most recent version of the game, but apart from that detail, Boomer is 100% right.

Read what buildmod.bat says when you're compiling.
Errors on load are usually explained in that text.

slow answer and maybe pointless now but given the error log, it is likely you are missing some of the prerequisite software mentioned in the mod sdk manual needed to install separately or mod sdk won't function properly.
