Have you seen his other texture work? Case closed.

Even if its not finished, why would you leave big grey edges on every face?

So you're allowed to tell some random 'you need to practise more', while I'm not allowed to constructively criticise your work to help make it better? What's the issue with criticising work in progress? If you can't take it onboard, don't post the picture.

And like I said: Even if its not finished, why would you leave big grey edges on every face? Don't tell me you were planning to fill them in later, that's absurd.

EDIT: http://img444.images...shot0020oj6.jpg

It's the same as that supposed skin. It's like it was done in paint, there's no actual texturing involved its just very flat colour with black dots and lines, and the uv isn't filled properly resulting in edges on every face.

@Torn: stop to play the offended one only because someone told you it's WIP. Nobody forbids you to post constructive criticism, so stop to act like you're treated unfairly, you know that is not true.

Your first post was okay, but that is certainly not constructive criticism:

Have you seen his other texture work? Case closed.

@Helge: As far as I can see, Torn does have a point with his first post somehow. Adding more colour variation plus the kind of dirt and scratches metal plates get when they are used in combat would certainly help.

What ever happened to allowing someone time to learn. Seems like he's trying and doing. WIP, what is the big deal?

I'm not playing offended, but I didn't see why any constructive crit be brushed aside just by saying WIP. The second post was infact meaning that the other texture that I have seen, which I have linked to in this thread, has the same issues as this skin which is finished, most notably the face edge thing.

Hostile, I'm trying to help him for god's sake, I thought that was the point in WIP, to point out the mistakes before it gets too deep into the process, and they can be corrected easier. If any criticism is going to be brushed off just because its not finished then why even bother with the pic in the first place?

Nice to hear that your redoing your skins Helge, try to avoid the edge thing in future though as it does hamper the quality of the skin a lot. Try and look at some basic metal tutorials (sourceblog is really good for that), download sets of brushes and play around, and you're skins will look a lot nicer in no time.
