they also have the lasers that will melt (or in space, slowly disintegrate) metal.

Hello everyone. I am back.

I figure that we're fighting at least over light seconds (the time it takes light to travel over a period of space in a matter of seconds). Since 1 light second is 300,000 kilometers...you'd have to at least accelerate the bullet close enough to that speed. However it would be effective at smaller ranges, and if you accelerate it fast enough bullets would still be effective. Figure a railgun, the bullet accelerates to near the speed of light, enough to be seen, but fast enough to get there.

Also, the bending of light for your cloaking device. That can be detected pretty easily, as a black hole also distorts light patterns, which is how they're detected. You may want to rethink of how your cloak is used.

That is because you're cloak was using a phase shift, so while you can't be seen, you also can't fire upon other targets while in it.

Then why even bother with a cloak? Phase shifting is far more effective and takes less energy since it is not a continous drain.

you think about it and phase would probably take heaps more to do...

you are actually phasing out of this dimension(thats how mine works), that would take a lot more power then a normal cloak, wouldn't you think?
(although yes, not a continuous drain, i'd say it would take more to phase in and out once, then it would to keep a cloak on for... however long)

That would depend. A good cloak would take more energy to keep active for thirty minutes then an out of phase device does in each transfer. While out of phase you cannot get fired at, detected, etc, but even with a cloak those things are possible. Up to you, but in the long run phasing has more benefits then cloaking.

Eh? I'm just a humble scholar!

OK then. So as I understand it, this is the case:
You're a collectivist faction of primarily subterranean aliens who have developed decent space travel in their local area.
Military wise, you make use mainly of highly focussed laser devices (presumably adapted form similar tunnelling equipment) which eats through armour like a knife through butter, but takes time. Your ships defend themselves with this and other, more conventional projectile weapons, and if out-gunned they will shift out of phase with the universe, thus effectively ceasing to exist until they re-phase.

If all that's true, then yes, you are, at length, approved :shiftee:
Please go ahead and post a topic about your faction in the archives so you can explore your background in more depth.
Of course I don't look busy; I did it right the first time.
Ever stop to think and forget to start again?
There are 10 kinds of people in this world: Those who understand binary and those who don't.
FZM and Vort don't do tag wrestling...but if they did, they'd probably be the worst tag-wrestlers in the world.

Lol. Anyone can do it. Its more a matter of what happens while you're out of phase, and how far out of phase you are. A complete 180 degrees out means that you're completely out of the universe. While a mere 100 degrees allows you to see what's going on in our universe but without us being able to see you. His is more the 180, while you're is more of the 100.

Phasing....or leaping Dimensions...hmm...Personally I prefer creating a void of subspace around Lumiaran vessels that act as shields :)
