History

The Taiidan Empire has its origins deep upon the Taiidan homeworld of Ikira. Prior to their development of interstellar travel the Taiidan were isolated on this tropical, savage world. In the past the Taiidan had learned to become effective warriors in order to survive. However, in the year that would pass they would turn their ability in combat towards one another, as do most sentient species.

Although this fighting was at first only mildly destructive, with devastation across the land but without long-term damage, technological advances made these wars more and more dangerous. By the 40th century GSY(Galactic Standard Year) the Taiidan had advanced to such levels that their weapons threatened to turn the world of Ikira into a barren wasteland.

In order to prevent this destruction King Absolon III of the Taiid Kingdom began massive campaigns to unite the globe under one world. Through political manuevering, cunning military strategy, and subterfuge he managed to do so and in 4026 Ikira was united and the global Taiidan Empire was formed, with Absolon at its head.

The young Empire was still not interstellar, surprisingly enough. Although great advancements in technology had resulted as part of the wars that had once swept across Ikira, now called Taiid, technology unrelated to warfare had not found patronage so easy. As a result the Taiidan had a lot of catching up to do and much of the first few centuries of unification were spent exploring and colonizing the surrounding star system.

Life continued peaceably upon Taiid but ironically, this was not so on the colonies. Many Taiidan colonies believed themselves independent of the Empire, which they considered a faraway and apathetic government. To many colonists the colonies were soley their property, which they had built themselves and toiled for. That the Taiidan Empire required them to follow their orders and pay Imperial taxes was considered intolerable by some factions.

As a result many revolts would spread throughout the colonies, all of which would be put down in due time. However, these rebellions, small and ineffective as they were, brought to light the fact that the Empire, though it existed in a time of peace, still required a military presence. As such the Empire began to rebuild its armies and construct a Taiidan Imperial Fleet as well. These forces would soon be put to use as the days of expansionism and colonialism drew near.

Colonial Era

Eventually the Taiidan were able to develop hyperspace gates, which allowed them to spread beyond their solar system. Rapidly the Empire expanded into nearby, uninhabited systems. However, the Taiidan would soon come into contact with their first extra-Taiidan sentients. In This race would be the Yanme'e, a insectoid race that, like the Taiidan centuries before, was embroiled in global civil wars. In 4612 the Taiidan discovered the Yanme'e and decided to establish trade links with the pre-hyperspace species.

This activity brought the attention of the Bentusi, a race of space-faring travelers who always took interest in new species to join the galactic community of civilizations. In exchange for resources and a trading agreement the Bentusi agreed to give the Taiidan access to the short jump drive, allowing sufficiently powerful vessels to jump independently of a hyperspace gate. This technology would rapidly accelerate Taiidan expansion. However, for the most part, the early Empire interacted with its neighbors peacefully.

This was not always true however. In 4759 the Taiidan made first contact with the Regvali, an alien race with roughly the same technological development as the Taiidan, although a little behind. The Regvali, like the Taiidan, were also very pious, and although their ideology was very different from that of the Empire the two races nonetheless got off to a good start. The Emperor Liion V himself praised the Regvali and their close friendship with the Taiidan.

This was not to be however. In 4836 a group of Bentusi, for unknown reasons, intervened in the relations between the two powers by engineering an accident which cost both the Regvali and the Taiidan their ambassadorial vessels. The group's role was not known at the time and the Taiidan and Regvali quickly devolved into conflict, accusing one another of sabotage. This incident, the Aztalan Incident, resulted in the following Regvali-Taiidan War.

The war would end in favor of the Taiidan, despite the fact that the Regvali had powerful allies. At the war’s end the Regvali homeworld of Tenok was occupied by the Taiidan, leading to the end of Regvali independence. This incident also led the Taiidan to annex their trading parthers into the empire.

Fracturing and warlord era

The Empire was too large, however, to be destroyed in one blow; for the next decade or so, several interstealler powers banded together and fought the empire in a final battle above the imperial capital. the battle resulted in the empire losing almost all its territores when sudden uprisings over threw the local governers and broke the empire in peices. all that was left was the first colonies and the honeworld in the Alpha Quadrant. later a new leader arose from the ashs, S'bak I, the first empress of the empire. she alone holds the remnants together fighting the warlords who seek to overthrow the young empress and take the thrown for themselves.

Government

The Empire at its fall was composed of three main elements: the Emperor/Empress, the Assembly of Lords, and the Taiidan military. During the rule of Riesstiu IV(the last emperor) the Second the Assembly of Lords was mostly reduced to a committee that rubber-stamped anything put forth by the Emperor. It was the Emperor who possessed the real power.

However, for a large part it was the Empire’s military, particularly the Taiidan Imperial Fleet and the Imperial Army which wielded most of the power although they were, for the most part, loyal to the Emperor. It was the Imperial Fleet which was used as a security force, a symbol of unity, and a weapon with which to strike the Empire’s foes, all at the same time. When the Fleet’s loyalties began to waver during the last war the Empire collapsed, torn into three.

It was not always so however. Until 8177 the Imperial Senate possessed a large amount of legislative power and was charged with establishing law and raising the armed forces. At some times the Senate wielded even more power than the Emperor, in cases where the latter was incompetent or unpopular. The Senate itself was a mask for the noble Houses, all of whom were descended from those awarded titles of nobility by the Emperor. Throughout the Empire’s history these houses would carry varying degrees of power and prestige, sometimes overshadowing the Emperor but sometimes being forced into submission.

The Imperial Court, the key judicial power in the Empire, also served an important function. The highest crimes were charged there, including on occasion those otherwise seen immune to law such as the Emperors or high nobility. Throughout its history the Imperial Court controlled various aspects of the secret service, except for the military police which was directly under the control of the Emperor.

At times the Emperor’s or Empress's family also wielded some influence. During various periods of history the royal house would rule in the name of the Emperor/Empress, particularly if the Emperor was mentally disabled or too young, in S'bak's case, her family rules some parts of the empire, for the proper age for the ruler was to be 35 standerd years, but she is 28 and not yet ready to take the thrown. Usually this person with the power was close to the Emperor,or sometimes even the Empress herself.

Economy

The Taiidani Empire, that had once covered half of the known galaxy, but has been reduced to controling a small part of the Alpha Quadrant, had an enormously large economy which was in turn very diverse. For the most part this diversity was promoted actively by the Empire, which adopted a laissez faire approach to economics and allowed the market to function almost entirely freely. As such many parts of the Empire were in part governed by enormous megacorporations, which sometimes wielded more power than the local governments.

The largest single export of the Empire was manufacture goods and most of the worlds in the Empire were industrialized. The Empire had existed for so long and colonization had been so promoted that most worlds of the Empire were settled. To provide jobs or extract the resources needed to sustain colonies these worlds often became industrialized rather quickly. As such it was easy for the Empire to export a vast amount of both raw resources and manufactured goods. but after the fall of the empire, power of the corporations was almost completely gone under orders of House of Elson. but the Megacorporations still retain some power, but it is closly observed by the Taiidan Colonial Authority.

Society

The culture of the Taiidani Empire was both multicultural and uniform. Although minority cultures were accepted the Imperial government wielded vast power over the media. Furthermore some groups were seen as anti-Imperial and hence suppressed, leading to some uniformity throughout the Empire. Languages other than Galactic Common and Taiid-Ara were suppressed, sometimes violently. Education was completely regulated by the Empire and was meant to both educate and to teach students proper Imperial values.

The Empire’s citizenry were divided into many classes. At the top were the nobility, who lived in leisure and spent much of their youth in obligatory military service. The middle class, small though it was, lived life at a standard and participated in all activities allowed by the government. The merchant class of the Empire lived pleasantly, although not as pleasantly as the nobility. The lower class on the other hand lived poorly, working at low wage industrial jobs.

Slavery in the Taiidan Empire was illegal, although some wouldn’t know it. Although Imperial officers were charged with arresting anyone known to be dealing or using slaves. soon the Taiidan Colonial Authority had put a complete stop to it.

Military

The armed forces of the Taiidan Empire were vast, a necessity if the Taiidan were to maintain their Insterstealler hegemony. The Taiidan military is set in four branchs.

Imperial Army

The Imperial Army was a branch of the Imperial Military whose primary responsibility was the prosecution of ground-side military operations, under the oversight of Army Command. one of the army's most common duties was the maintenance of planetary garrisons throughout the empire, as well as waging war on the Empire's enemies.

The Army utilized a wide range of equipment and vehicles in support of its infantry. Army units were often reinforced by Imperial Kasrkin, although the command structure for the two organizations remained separate. On garrisoned worlds, the Army operated in conjunction with Imperial Starfleet, Kasrkin, and the local constabulary to maintain order and security.

Taiidan Imperial Fleet

The Imperial Navy, also known as the Imperial Fleet, Imperial Battlefleet, or Imperial Space Service, was the military arm of the Taiidani Empire charged with maintaining security in Imperial space. and as such was under Naval Command.

Taiidan Colonial Authority

The TCA is a peacekeeping force established by the empire to maintain law and order on the outer edges of imperial space. Most of their work involves reining in abuses of power by the Megacorporations, who often commit serious ethical violations against the civilians of their own colonies due to the vast distance between them and any governing authority. The TCA itself controls its own private corporation, Axon Corporation, which is in charge of research and development of weapons, technology, and even archeological artifacts for the TCA.

Imperial Kasrkin Corps

The Imperial Kasrkin Corps was a branch of the Imperial Military that was not under the control of the Imperial Army, Imperial Fleet,Taiidan Colonial Authority or Imperial Intelligence, but operated alongside those groups. Like the Royal Guard, it was under the direct control of the Empress's control, and was commanded by Kasrkin Command.

The Kasrkin are known as the elite of the military. They are marked out while they are still in the Youth armies and enrolled in special academies where they receive training that is more than a match for that provided to Imperial legionnaires. They are utterly dedicated to the preservation of the empire and follow an ethos of duty and honour that is both impressive and intimidating.

Starships and Vehicles

Pathfinder Light Hoverdyne

The Imperial Light Hoverdyne or "Pathfinder" as it is commonly called, is an armored hover-vehicle primarily used for scouting.

The Pathfinder is the Empire's fastest ground unit. It trades heavy armor and weapons for speed and maneuverability, and its low armor rating makes it vulnerable even to infantry at close range. It is armed with a G-Lock 135 Photon Cannon, making it especially deadly to any foot soldier.

A4 Combat Strider

Image

At seven meter tall the A4 Combat Strider has excellent overview of the battlefield.
The 'Terebra Exarch' is an imposing Strider armed with a powerful photon cannon in gatling configuration; an excellent weapon for suppressing the enemy.

A3 Missile Strider

Image

While smaller and more agile than its Gatling-armed sibling, the A3 Rodentia (Rat) Exarch still packs a heavy punch as it tirelessly hails T9 “Fasttracker” missiles towards its targets. A couple of A3s are a perfect complement to an A4 and a couple of infantry squads.

APC Hoverdyne

Image

The Imperial Pedes Covinus is an armored personnel carrier (APC) capable of transporting and protecting up to eight soldiers in battle. It carries a heavy photon cannon capable of dealing with infantry and lightly armored vehicles.

Destroyer Hoverdyne

Image

The Destroyer is the lion of the battlefield, capable of destroying almost anything it encounters. Its poor visibility makes them easy prey for antitank weapons, particularly for troops hidden in dense terrain.

The Destroyer is famous for its thick frontal armor but weak side and rear armor.

Howitzer IMHH65 Artillery

Image

The Imperial Howitzer is a tank armed with a large caliber howitzer. Its powerful range and impressive blast radius makes it an expert in taking out large concentrations of enemy forces. It moves with the characteristic speed of a hover tank.

The Imperial Howitzer is heavily armored in order to withstand enemy retaliatory fire; it makes a natural target on the battlefield. so a small unit of troops would be stationed near the artillery.

Imperial Heavy Dropship

Image

Current design philosophy regarding the Taiidan dropship sees it as a simple carrier of troops and equipment. While the Taiidani continually update their designs, their present focus seems to be to get as many combat units deployed as possible in the least amount of time and their dropship has been configured accordingly to do so. it can carry up to 50 soldiers, 4 hoverdynes and 4 striders.

More to come.....
