All unit costs and build times are yet to be determined.

Siege will consist mostly of air units such as the F-302, death glider, and al'kesh, but there will also be other things such as staff cannons, shoulder launched missiles, and mortars. I'm sure I'll think of more as well. Unlike eagles and fells in the current game, small fighter craft will not be devastating anti-personal weapons. (High damage weapons, but it'd be like shooting a swarm of flies with a 9 mil.) I would like to see some nice air battles such as the one over Antarctica with a good number of ships, so build cost and time shouldn't be TOO high.

On a related note, I have some good news on the death glider model. :D The original model was around 7,000 tris, so I thought I would have to pretty much remodel the entire thing, but it turns out that a large portion of those polygons went into highly detailed mechanical parts in the staff cannons. After drastically simplifying that part of the model, I was able to use the rest virtually un-touched, high detail wings and all.

Posted Image

It comes to just 338 triangles above the poly budget for a final count of 2,338.

I'm especially happy because all of the parts are already UV mapped. That spares me one BIG headache. :)

It's very pretty, and I see that there's atleast another good 1000 triangle cut there :xcahik_:
the edge of the wing... the front of the "wings" nearest the middle...
there are alot of 'useless' triangles there, that could be used somewhere else IMO :xcahik_:
Still, it's still very pretty, and since I'm guessing it's pretty straigthforward, It's cool :p
straigth forward, as in... it won't be very hard to animate... at all :cool2:

Do you think the idle animation should be a hover, or flying in circles? Same question for the F-302. My initial gut reaction is to go with a hover for both craft.

Hover I'd say. Easier to select and keep track of.

Ha ha, okay. The Tau'ri's UAV will have to circle though, there's no reasonable way that can hover. :xcahik_:

[Edit] YES!! I finally have the fortress door animations working! :p :cool2:

glider looks sick :p I did a quick search to see what you had planned for the stargate itself, I saw a couple Ideas. What I think works best in my opinion would have the gate be capturable building like an inn, and its a unit spammer for the team that captures it. although that would make whoever gets the gate 1st way overpowered.

Exactly.

I've said before how I plan to use the gate, but I'll reiterate: The gate will serve as the primary point where troops from reinforcement summons come from. This makes getting control of the area around the gate tactically important, as your reinforcements can be cut off from getting to where they are needed, or even simply killed as they come through. The gate itself will be un-targetable and cannot take any damage EXCEPT from Anubis' super weapon, although loss of the gate would deal a crippling blow to all players by making their reinforcement summons useless.

ok cool. Sorry if I annoyed you :xcahik_: I did a search on what the purpose of the gate would have ingame, and I never saw a post with that information. That is an awesome idea, even better than mine  :xcahik_: :xcahik_:

There will be a few maps without a gate like Antarctica, though. On those maps summons will come from off map.

i can make fairly good palantir images and do some minor coding work...
but even if i could do a small work for you i'd be most happy

Ok, I guess I have a job for you then.

It would be cool if you could make hero portraits (a.k.a. Palantir art) for the following Goa'uld.

Apophis
Klorel
Baal
Sokar
Heru-ur

This is a sci-fi mod, so they don't have to look like parchment. In fact, they should probably look just as they do right on the screen.

Here is a template you can use to set the alpha on the images, plus an example of the one I already did.

Posted Image

Posted Image

It would be helpful if the files could follow the naming scheme 'heroui_charactername.tga'. So for example, Heru-ur's portrait would be 'heroui_heruur.tga'.

Depending on what what DVDs you do or don't have, the main work is either going to be finding good stuff with Google image search or grabbing screens from the DVDs.

Does this seem good to you?

[Edit] Update! You can now view a short preview video of some of the changes I have already made to the game here at stage6. (You will need to have DivX Web Player installed.)

Note: The alarm sound when Anubis spawns is only temporary.

Hm, I don't know if Anubis' super-weapon is the only thing that should damage a stargate. Perhaps add Sokar's heat-weapon, making all players temporarily unable to use the stargate?
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

Nah, without the iris all Sokar's weapon would have done is beam harmful particle radiation through the gate. I might consider some other special powers involving the gate, but only the super weapon will be able to damage it. (The thing withstood a blast from a Mark IX 'Gatebuster' nuke for Pete's sake!)

I think since I'm moving to the single System Lord method I'm going to add Nirrti, possibly Osiris, and maybe even some more minor Goa'uld as heroes. I have to be careful though, I don't want the Goa'uld faction to be too OP.

I dont think they would be op given that certain system lords only allow certain units. besides the more System lords the merrier. I suppose that some of the system lords could give different tech instead of units. or boosts to things. Hathor was a queen that produced lots of larva and drugged all the men in the sgc with pheremones. perhaps she could convert units in to her ranks. nirti did virus research and genetic research, perhaps she could create hak'tars or convert tauri units into hak'tar units in her service? just some thoughts, I dont even know if anything of this is even possible.
