Thanks. Right now I'm rendering an animation of a high-poly gate model I made rotating to replace the spinning ring movie while things are loading. :xcahik_:

Well, I haven't been able to get it to work in-game yet, but here is the loading gate animation that replaces the spinning ring. 1 MB

Replicator Queen (as seen in 'small victories') could be the extra Replicator unit you are looking for. Very expensive, constantly spawning new spiders, but not able to attack. I think that'll make a very interesting elite unit.

For Free Jaffa, Gerak could be an interesting new hero. At lvl 8 he becomes prior, making him very powerfull, but not revivable once killed.

Why did you dish Osiris? She's just too hot not to put into...

Btw, 'til what episode have you seen Stargate Atlantis? Looks like you missed some Replicator fun (in the unlikely case you haven't noticed, I just love them ^^)
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

Is that your model? Nice touch anyway.

Anyway, would be far more impressive to see a working stargate ingame... should be fairly easy to do the event horizon with an animated texture.. the kawoosh could probably be done with particles or somthing.

Anyway... want my opinion? Start with the Go'auld and the Tau'ri. Thats the heart of SG-1. Start with those, and have a chance of releasing somthing. You start messing around with a million factions and you wont get anywhere (or you may get somewhere, but have absolutely awful art) Ignore all the people who encourage you to have a gazillion factions..

Thats my advice anyway. And that'll take you long enough (animations for gun firing etc..)

i think the Kawoosh (or whatever you type it) can be done with some FX. with some blurring it should look nice.

Couldn't agree more with that. Besides above mentioned, Tau'ri and Goa'uld are pretty unique factions in their way of functioning.

Plus then, you can always add all the odd little bits like Free Jaffa and such as summons and things.

Ok, I will focus all of my creative energy for the moment on fleshing out the ideas for the Tau'ri and Goa'uld. I could probably use a coder and an organic modeler the most right now if anyone would be interested in that. (I'm just learning all of the coding stuff, I'm a modeler and skinner at heart.) I'll PM Fingulfin, he said he was toying with a way of having a working gate in-game via some sort of scripting. I could easily make an animated texture for the event horizon, I just don't know if I could make it loopable.

Allathar, to be honest I haven't seen much beyond season 1 of SGA. (No cable TV and I can't afford season 2 DVDs right now.) I got all of my SG-1 season 10 episodes from iTunes.

Question: I want to add the SG-1 theme as the opening video. Should I use the original opening sequence, or the one from season 9+?

Well if you do all the non-organic models, you'll be quite a way there already ^_^ base buildings are often neglected. Show us a few more nice buildings and I'm sure we can move this to the main recruiting board.

Oh don't worry about that, I assure you that all factions will have totally new and unique buildings! ^_^ (You've already seen the Goa'uld fortress.)

WAHOO! I successfully replaced the opening game cinematic with the Stargate SG-1 theme as it was in season 7. ^_^

Still can't get my spinny loading gate to work though... The game just freezes up when it should play.

Btw, because you haven't seen season 2-3-4 of Atlantis you may find this interesting ^_^
